pūṇuγa T. M. C. (Te. pūḍu, see പു ണര്‍). 1. v. n. To be closed ചങ്ങല പൂണ്ടുള്ള വാതില്‍ CG.; to be yoked, put to തേരില്‍ പൂ ണ്ട അശ്വം Nal. 2. v. a. to embrace മാറോ ടു ചേര്‍ത്തു പൂണ്ടു CG. കണ്ണുകള്‍ ചിമ്മിപ്പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Bhr. പൂമൈ പൂണുക Si Pu. അവളെ പൂ. (= പു ണര്‍ന്നു). 3. to put on as cloth, ornaments അംബരം പൂണാത പൈതല്‍ CG. യോഗിവേ ഷം പൂണ്ടാന്‍ Mud. ദിവ്യരൂപവും പൂണ്ടേന്‍ VilvP. assumed. 4. to have കന്പത്തെ പൂണു ന്നോരേണം CG. the trembling deer. പരമാന ന്ദം പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Nal. was full of joy, ഭക്തി പൂ. (ചക്രം പൂണ്ടുപോയി Palg.) പൂണാടന്‍ in ആലക്കല്‍ പൂ Palg. exh. a kind of paddy. പൂണാഞ്ചി B. cloth etc. worn over one shoulder & under the other = പൂണുനൂല്‍ പരിചു. പൂണാന്‍ So. resisting the yoke, unyielding. (Neg. V.). പൂണാരം T. M. pearl-string പൂണാരം പൂണുന്ന മാറു CG. (ഹാരം). പൂണി 1. (C. an arrow) a quiver ബാണാസന പൂവണികള്‍ AR. ബാണം ഒടുങ്ങാത പൂ. UR. പൂണിയോടു വില്ലുമായി Mpl. (= തുണി). 2. So. T. the hire of an ox for ploughing. പൂണു an iron ring, hoop, ferule V1. പൂണുനൂല്‍ T. pāršṇi S. The heel, rear. പാ. ഗ്രാഹ കന്മാര്‍ followers, Brhmd. (reserve?).

parušam S. (പരുസ്സ് a knot). Knotty; rough, rugged, esp. harsh words പോരും പ. പറഞ്ഞതു Bhr., പോരും ഇനി പ' ങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞ തു Mud.; also of tragic speeches, that leave a deep impression.

pāčči (C. പാചു breast-milk of a female) 1. = പാല്‍ in children's language (so also in T.) പാ. വരിക puberty of girls, vu.; in പഴ ന്പാച്ചി No.; മരപ്പാച്ചി palg. 2. N. pr. f. (I/?/awars & Tīyars).

puččham S. The tail (see പിഛ്ശം). അ തു പുഛ്ശം No. = നിസ്സാരം. എന്നെ പുഛ്ശാക്കി despised, vilified, ridiculed me; so: denV., പുഛ്ശിച്ചു കളഞ്ഞു, പുഛ്ശീകരിച്ചു.

pōḍu (C. podet the belly, breast). The navel, umbilical rupture. 2. So. പോടുണ്ടാ ക്കുക to burrow (പോതു II.). മരത്തിന്‍റെ പോ ട്ടില്‍ Arb. a hole. പാന്പിന്‍റെ പോടു Palg.

pārušyam S. (പരുഷ). Harsh language, rudeness, violence വാക്കുപാ., ദണ്ഡപാ. Bhr. VyM. (two faults of princes). ചിത്തപാ' ത്തോടു കാമിനീസംഭോഗവും PT. പാരുഷ്യക്കാരന്‍ an impudent person.

piṇi (T. tie = പിണ). Ailment, affliction, esp. by demons പോത്തിന്നു പിടിച്ച പി ണി ചാടുകള്‍ ഇഴെപ്പാന്‍ RS. വാതംകൊണ്ടുള്ള പി. melancholy. പി. ഒഴിക്ക Mantr. (with singing of കളപ്പാട്ടു & ബലിക്കള). ജനിപ്പൊരു വി നപ്പാടും മരിപ്പൊരു പിണിപ്പാടും CG (= പീഡ). പിണിയാള്‍ No. the person on whom exorcism is being practised.

parā S. (പരഃ beyond). Away, as in: പരാക്രമം S. exertion, prowess, valour പ. കാട്ടി. — Hence: പരാക്രമി valiant (— മന്‍ AR.), ശൌര്യപ' മിയായ ഭവാന്‍ Cr Arj., നല്‍ പ'മി ലങ്ക യെ എരിച്ചീടും KR. denV. പരുഷവാക്യങ്ങള്‍ സദ്യാ പൊഴിഞ്ഞു പരാക്രമിക്കും Bhg 6.
