paṭṭiṇi (T. — നി) Privation of food (പട്ടിണിപ്പാടു). പ. കിടക്ക to starve, go to sleep without a meal. ചൊക്കനെ പ. കിടത്ത രുതു TP. the dog must not be starved. ഒരു പ. കഴിക്ക to fast one day. മൂന്നേത്തേപ്പ. കിടന്നു TP. 3 days. പ. കരകയും SiPu. a starving child. പ. ഇടുക, വെക്ക to abstain from food as one day after a death; to dun by abstaining. ഞ ങ്ങളെ അറയിലാക്കി ൨ ദിവസം പ. യിട്ടു തച്ചു ഹേമിച്ചു TR. left without food. നീ പട്ടിണിയി ട്ടു കൊല്ലിച്ചീലയോ Mud.; പ. കൊണ്ടു പടക്കൂട്ട ങ്ങള്‍ തളരും VCh.; ഒട്ടകം കൊണ്ടു പ. തീര്‍ക്ക PT. to breakfast on the camel. പ. കളവാന്‍ VCh. പട്ടിണിനന്പി a Brahman who duns by sitting on his umbrella before a debtor's house, starving himself & those within.
