H. paṭhān (പഠാണി). An Afghan, one of the 4 classes of foreign Mussulmans, പ. തൊട്ട ആന prov. — fem. പട്ടാണിച്ചി. പട്ടാണിപ്പയറു Pisum sativum.

parišu T. M. aC. (Te. parasu, fr. പരി II.). 1. pēšalam S. (പിശ്, G. poikilos). 1. Pleasing, beautiful പേശലാംഗി Genov. പേ ശലകേശം, — വാദിനി CG. പാദങ്ങള്‍ ഏശും അ പ്പേശലമായ രേണുലേശം CG. 2. dexterous.

puγil 1. So. (= പുകല്‍, പുകര്‍?) Noise, pomp, confusion B. 2. humidity as of soil. V1. perhaps = പൊഴില്‍. 3. (പുകുക VN. entry, also പൂവല്‍) harvest, reaping, vu. പൂല്‍ f. i. നി ലങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു പുകില്‍ ആകയാല്‍ മുണ്ടക വിള ഇറക്കി MR. എത്ര പൂല്‍ ആ നിലത്തില്‍നിന്ന് എടുത്തു? ഒരു പൂല്‍, മകരപ്പൂല്‍ തന്നേ; പറ ന്പില്‍ ഒരു പൂല്‍ചാമ etc. 4. (loc.) = കരക്കണ്ടം.

paṭṭaḍa (T. C. an anvil, fr. പടുക) Funeral pile = ചിത, as പ. കൂട്ടുക; also = ചുടലക്കാടു.

pašya S. (Imp. of പശ് = സ്പശ്) Behold! like കാണ്കില്‍, ഓര്‍ത്താല്‍ Bhg.

purā S. Formerly. കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞു പുരാ Bhr. that time is already gone. പുരാകൃതദുരി തം KR. once committed. പുരാണം 1. former, long ago. നാം പു'മേ നട ക്കുന്നു MR. we exercise this right from times immemorial. നമുക്കു പു'മായിട്ട ജന്മം TR. 2. old history കോലസ്വരൂപവും ചുഴലി സ്വരൂപവുമായി നടന്നു വന്ന പു. ഗ്രഹിച്ചാല്‍ TR. (= പഴമ). 3. a tale, legend, chiefly the 6 or 18 (& more) mythological treatises ascribed to Vyāsa, who വേദാര്‍ത്ഥം പ്രകാ ശിപ്പാന്‍ ചമെച്ചു പു'ങ്ങള്‍ Bhr. നിര്‍മ്മലപു' ങ്ങള്‍ പതിനെട്ടായി Bhg. പുരാണക്കാരന്‍ a teller of stories (=also പഴ മക്കാരന്‍). പുരാണവൃത്തി the office of teaching the Purāṇas. പുരാതനം old എന്‍റെ സ്ഥാനം പു'മേ ഉള്ളതു (jud.) തന്‍റെ പു'നജന്മം, അവകാശം പു' മേ നടക്കുന്നു MR. പുരാരാത്രി S. the preceding night പു. ദേവാ ലയേ ചെന്നിരിക്കും SiPu. പുരാവരം or പുരാപരം (fr. അപരം?) old stories & sayings പു. അറിഞ്ഞവന്‍ V1. പുരാവൃത്തം S. what happened formerly, history പു. കേള്‍്പിച്ചു Bhr. puḷḷuvaǹ (പുള്‍). N. pr. A caste employed in medicine, മന്ത്രവാദം, singing at snake-groves the പുള്ളുവപ്പാട്ടു accompanied by the tap of the പുള്ളുവക്കുടം; the females (പു ള്ളുവത്തി) are midwives in the No. (61 in Taliparambu Talook).
