To fall, sink ചളിയില്‍ പ ട്ടുപോയി in mire. സംസാരസമുദ്രത്തിലലയില്‍ പട്ടുകിടന്നുഴലും മനുഷ്യര്‍ Bhg.; പട്ടുകിടക്കമേ ലേ കിടക്കുന്ന നീ പട്ടുകിടക്കുമാറായിതോ ചോ രയില്‍Bhr. fallen in battle. താളിപ്പനപ to die. 2. to be obtained, caught കൊത്തുന്നതു കൊ ക്കില്‍പ്പടായ്കയാല്‍ PT. 3. to happen, to be in a state = പെടുക to get into a direction, hence പട്ടു = പെട്ടു q. v. a. v. പടുക്ക 1. To build, chiefly a well, tank to lay stones, etc. കിണറു കല്ലു പടുത്തിട്ടുള്ളതു MR.; കല്ലു കെട്ടിപ്പടുക്കിലും KU.; സേതു പ. AR.; സ്ഫടികം കൊണ്ടു പടുത്ത നീരാഴി KR.; പാതാളം പോലേ കുഴിച്ചു പടുത്തു Mud. paved; കുഴിക്കെക്കു താന്‍ പടുക്കെക്കു താന്‍ കോല്ക്ക നം വരുത്തുക CS.; കല്ലു പ. also: to lay the spread courses or footings of a foundation, difft. fr. കെ ട്ടുക. 2. to piss (= വീഴ്ത്തുക). 3. to catch, obtain മീന്‍ പടുക്കാന്‍ പോയി. 4. T. to lie down. പടുക്ക (4) a bed. കുട്ടികള്‍ ഒക്കേ പാളയിലും പ. യിലും ആകുന്നു are still infants. പ. യി ട്ടേടം the bed of menstruating females. പടുതി 1. So. nature, state; custom 2. No. = പടതി a curtain, awning. പടുത്തിരിക്ക (4) a little mat for children to sit on. പടുപ്പു a bed, mat, chiefly in menstruation, = പടപ്പു2. പടുപട Neither solid nor liquid പ. യായി പ്പോയി = അഴഞ്ഞു (പടു). പടുമന്‍ = പടുവാള്‍ a clumsy person B. പടുഠ്വന്‍ a small ulcer B.

poḷi T. M. l. (=പെളി). A streak, split, chip. ഓടു പൊളി തീര്‍ക്ക to repair a roof; what is torn, as a palm-leaf, umbrella. കെട്ടും പൊളിമുറി cancelment of a deed which is not forthcoming. So. 2. a layer, membrane of skin, rind ഒരു പൊളി തോല്‍ പിടിച്ചു കളയും to thrash well, so as to flay. പുറന്പൊളി q. v., അകന്പൊളി of bamboos for mats, മുറം, പരന്പു etc. 3. a cake. 4. a lie (=പൊയി, പൊളളു). നാരിമാരോടു പൊളി പറയും Bhr.; പൊളിയ ല്ല Bhg.; നേരോ പൊളിയോ TR.; പൊളി പറ വാന്‍ അവന്‍ (— നേ) കഴിച്ചേ വേറേ ആള്‍ ഉളളു prov. പുളിക്കു സത്യം ചെയ്ക V2. perjury; പൊളിവാക്കു excuse. പൊളിയാണ Cat R. perjury. പൊളിവെടി firing without shot.

piččụ T. M. C. Te. (Tdbh. of പിത്തം) Madness പി. പിടിക്ക, കൊള്‍ക to go mad. പോയുംപിച്ചും പറക V2. to be delirious, so പി ച്ചുംപിഴയും or പിച്ചും ഭ്രാന്തും No., also to talk nonsense. പിച്ചല്ല Bhr. quite correct. കഴുകും പേയും പിച്ചേറിപ്പകുക്കും RC. furiously. പിച്ചന്‍ a mad man. പിച്ചുഭാവം weakness of intellect, dotage (senilitly). പിച്ചുസ്വരം an inarticulate sound.

purāiǹ (see പിരാന്‍). Lord ചെല്ലൂരില്‍ മരുവുന്ന പുരാനേ Anj. Siva. ക്ഷിതിതലമാണ്ടു നടന്ന പു'നേ CG. (എന്പു., തന്പു.). I.

paṭṭaǹ Tdbh., ഭട്ടന്‍, A class of foreign Brahmans, often traders, of old used as inviolable messengers, spies, etc. with പശ്ചിമശിഖ, hence less respected & object of many proverbs, f.i. ഊട്ടു കേട്ട പട്ടര്‍, പട്ടര്‍ തൊട്ട പെണ്ണു etc.; ഒരു കള്ളപ്പട്ടരെ അയച്ചു TR. a spy of Brahman. ഒരു പട്ടരശ്ശന്‍ (hon.) jud.; pl. പട്ടന്മാര്‍. Kinds: കടുപ്പട്ടര്‍ (lowered for eating the fish കടു?) a Sūdra-like class, living by science, & as carriers, embalers, etc. — കുട്ടിപ്പട്ടര്‍ Brahmans attending on Rājas. — ചോഴിയപ്പ. or ആര്യപ്പ. (with forelock) ranking with Kšatriyas, also മുക്കാണിയര്‍. — നാട്ടു പ. children of a foreign Br. from a Nambūri wife. Anach. ദേശികര്‍, വടമര്‍. പട്ടച്ചോമാതിരി see under പട്ടം. പട്ടത്തിരി (& ഭ.) the highest class of Nambūis, very learned, അന്തര്‍ജ്ജനത്തെ വിധിച്ചു പുറ ത്താക്കിയപ. TR. as judge of caste questions; vu. പട്ടേരി, as പൊട്ടന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതേ പട്ടേ രിയും വിധിക്കും prov. പട്ടമന KU. a Brahman house.

paδivraγa S. (പതി I.) Faithful to her husband, KR.— പുത്രിക്കു പ'താധര്‍മ്മങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം ഉപദേശിച്ചു AR. the duties of a good wife. പതിവ്രതം ദുഷ്പ്രാപമാകും Sah. = പാതിവ്രത്യം.

punnāram (പുന്‍ = പുതു?) or പൊ ന്നാരം Caressing, flattery. വാക്കിന്‍റെ പു. V1. the charm of his words. പുന്നാരിക്ക = ഓമനിക്ക, കൊഞ്ചുക V2. പുന്നാരക്കാരന്‍ a flatterer. പുന്നെല്‍ (= പുതുനെല്‍) or പുല്‍നെല്‍ new rice. പുന്നെലരിയും ചെറു താലിയും Palg. I/?/avars (a Tāli, present of money, 71/2 measures rice, betel & cloth taken to the bride's house). പുന്നെലവിലും വരട്ടുതേങ്ങയും (song — for Nivēdya to Gaṇapati). പുന്നെല്‍കൂഴം = കൂഴ ത്തരി of പുന്നെല്‍. — ചെറുകല്‍ പു a kind of rice (S. മാതുലാനി). പുന്മ (T = പുല്മ fr. പുല്‍ littleness) = പുതുമ in പുഞ്ചിരിപ്പുന്മ Anj. പുന്മൂട = പുല്‍മൂട.
