pal &പല്ലു T. M. C. Te. A tooth ആന പ്പല്‍, നരിപ്പ., പശുവിന്‍പ., നായ്പ., മാന്‍പ. a. med. (for eye-diseases). മേല്പ., കീഴ്പ. (അടി പ്പല്‍). കളളപ്പല്ലു a children's disease, swellings inside the mouth. പല്ലിനു തറ ഇട്ടു 434, പ. മു ളെക്ക to teeth. ഉറെച്ച പല്ലുകള്‍ ഉതിര്‍ന്നു പോ കുന്നു KR. So. the web of a key. പല്ലന്‍ one who has large or peouliar teeth, often പൊക്കപ്പല്ലന്‍ m., പുഴുപ്പല്ലി, കൊന്ത്രം പല്ലിച്ചി fem. etc. പല്ലരണ a disease of the gums V1. പല്ലാങ്കുഴി B. a tablet with 14 holes serving for a game, പ. യാടുക. പല്ലിക്കോര a കോര 317. പല്ലിടക്കുത്തി, പല്ലുകോല്‍, പല്ലുകുത്തി, പല്ലുളി a toothpick, tooth-cleaner. പല്ലിടുക്കില്‍ കു ത്തി മണപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുക്ക prov. (to reveal one's own faults). പല്ലിറുമ്മുക So. to gnash the teeth. പല്ലിളിക്ക to grin, snarl പ'ച്ചു കാട്ടി CC., also പല്ലു കാട്ടുക.

piḷḷa T. C. Te. M. (Tu. puḷḷi, grandson, Te. pin young, T. പീള്‍ foetus). 1. A child, infant പിള്ളവരുത്തം prov. (= ൦രംററു നോവു). പി.എടുക്കുന്നവള്‍ V1. a midwife. പിള്ളപ്പണി തപ്പണി prov. പെണ്ണും പിള്ളയും ആനന്ദിപ്പി ക്ക KU. (coronation formula). — pl. പിള്ളര്‍ boys CG. പി'രേ കൂടേ കളി ച്ചാല്‍ prov. കളി —, ക ള്ളപ്പിള്ളര്‍. 2. honorary title, as of ഇടപ്രഭു, വെള്ളാളര്‍, കണക്കപ്പിള്ള etc In Trav. പിള്ള is the caste-name of Nāyars; പിള്ളമാര്‍ accountants; എട്ടു വീട്ടുപിള്ളമാര്‍ (once) rulers of Trav. തിരുമുഖം പിടിച്ച പിള്ള a title granted by the Trav. Rāja to Nāyars for 2500 new fanams (the family receiving then a Diploma of nobility on a copper plate in power of which the offspring of its females enjoy certain privileges f.i. at marriages & exemption from customary labour (socage-duty). 3. the young of animals, small fruit; B. the pestle; അമ്മി പ്പിള്ള etc. 4. the Becond term in the rule of three, being of the same kind as x. (see ത ള്ള) CS. പിള്ളക്കര B. (3) a smaller stripe in cloth. പിള്ളക്കിണറു (3) a smaller well sunk within a larger one. പിള്ളക്കോല്‍ (3) sticks hanging from the പാ ലം of weavers. പിള്ളതിന്നി (1) attribute of a f. Bhūta, also പി.പേച്ചി Palg. causing abortus (superst.). പിള്ളപ്പലകയും കന്പക്കാലും No. panels & frame of a Pattāya.

H. paṭālan, A battalion, regiment, army — പട്ടാളക്കാര്‍ etc. പട്ടാളിച്ചുപോക No. (പട്ട) = പോളിച്ചുപോക paddy, greens, etc. over-grown on account of too much shadow or manure, having leaves only but no fruit, (comp. പട്ടെക്ക).

punam (T. high ground). 1. A jungle, chiefly highland overrun with underwood & capable of irregular cultivation പു. കൊത്തുക, കരിപ്പിടുക TR. the process of cutting down & burning the underwood, say once in 12 years for sowing jungle-rice. പുനനെല്ലു, പുനകൃഷി, പുനം പൈമാശി TR.
