pāyasam S. (പയസ്സ്). 1. Rice boiled in milk = പാല്‍ച്ചോറു, ഹേമപാത്രസ്ഥമായ പായസം AR.; a meal in a temple പാല്‍പാ. ചരക്കില്‍ വെച്ചു vu. പായതച്ചോററിന്നിരിക്ക TP. 2. a vow ആഴിവര്‍ണ്ണനു പായസ്സം പതി നാറു കഴിപ്പന്‍ SG. (gen. പണപ്പായസം).

paraġaδi S. (പരം 3.). Bliss എല്ലാ ര്‍ക്കും ഗുരു തന്നേ പരയായുള്ള ഗതി KR. പരജന്മം another birth. പരജാതന്‍ a bastard, Bhr. പരജാതി a foreign tribe, other caste. പരണി Tdbh.; ഭരണി A vase, jar. പരണി ക്കിണ്ണം an earthen plate. പരണ്‍ T. So., also പരണ a loft under the roof, rude ceiling; a frame for drying something over the fire-place.

paḍavụ T. Te. M. 1. = പടകു. A ship. വള്ളവും വഞ്ചീപടവെന്നെല്ലാം PT. 2. (പടെ ക്ക) laying stones, pavement. നടുപ്പ. the central part of a wall (= filling, Arch ). വാതി ല്ക്കല്‍ കല്പടവിന്മേല്‍ on the threshold.

paḷu (= പഴുതു?) 1. Indication ചോരപ്പളു പളളം traces of blood (huntg.); also പളുകുകള്‍ കണ്ടാല്‍. 2. the very moment. ഇപ്പളുക്കു‍ V2. even now. കലഹിക്കുന്ന പളുവില്‍ when they were just quarrelling.

pārvaṇam S. Connected with പ ൪വ്വം, as പാ'ണേന്ദു the full-moon.

pandam T. M. (C. Te. Tu. പഞ്ജു Tdbh.; ബന്ധം) 1. A torch തീപ്പന്തം, തുണിപ്പ. etc. പ. കത്തിച്ചു Bhr.; പ'ത്തിന്‍ വെളിച്ചത്തു by torch- light. പ. ഉഴിയുക the ceremony of waving a light before a child to drive out diseases. 2. resin, tar, esp. പയിനിന്‍റെ കറ Dammar. പ. ഇടുക to calk, fasten anything into a handle. പന്തക്കുഴ, പന്തക്കുററി a royal torch with brass- handle; an oil-vessel for torches. പന്തമുട്ടി a lamp for marriages in the shape of an elephant V1.

pōṇḍi 1. So. The film of a plantain-tree; a vessel made of it (C. Te. Tu. poṭṇa a paper-bag). 2. the scrotum of horses, etc. also പോണ്ട. 3. the skin of a jack-kernel, also പോണി (see പോള.).

paṭṭiṇi (T. — നി) Privation of food (പട്ടിണിപ്പാടു). പ. കിടക്ക to starve, go to sleep without a meal. ചൊക്കനെ പ. കിടത്ത രുതു TP. the dog must not be starved. ഒരു പ. കഴിക്ക to fast one day. മൂന്നേത്തേപ്പ. കിടന്നു TP. 3 days. പ. കരകയും SiPu. a starving child. പ. ഇടുക, വെക്ക to abstain from food as one day after a death; to dun by abstaining. ഞ ങ്ങളെ അറയിലാക്കി ൨ ദിവസം പ. യിട്ടു തച്ചു ഹേമിച്ചു TR. left without food. നീ പട്ടിണിയി ട്ടു കൊല്ലിച്ചീലയോ Mud.; പ. കൊണ്ടു പടക്കൂട്ട ങ്ങള്‍ തളരും VCh.; ഒട്ടകം കൊണ്ടു പ. തീര്‍ക്ക PT. to breakfast on the camel. പ. കളവാന്‍ VCh. പട്ടിണിനന്പി a Brahman who duns by sitting on his umbrella before a debtor's house, starving himself & those within. If not satisfied, he performs a funeral ceremony for the inmates, a curse more dreaded than death KU.

paiδal (IV. പൈ. T. പയ്യന്‍, പയല്‍) 1. A child, ആണ്‍പൈ. TP.; hon. പൈതലാന്‍ m., — ലാള്‍ fem. പയ്തല്‍ നടന്നു Bhg. a prince of soma age. ഉണ്ടായ പൈതല്‍ Bhr. an infant born. കിളിപ്പൈ. KR. a young parrot. — pl. പൈതങ്ങള്‍ (vu. പശുങ്ങള്‍). 2. N. pr. a man. പൈതവന്‍ N. pr. a deity of Kanakkas. പൈത്തുന്പല്‍ B. (I. or III. പൈ) Bezoar.
