pustaγam S (പുസ്തം smeared, പൂചു = എഴുതുക). A manuscript, book, chiefly written on paper or printed; (ഗ്രന്ഥം on palm-leaves). നാലഞ്ചു പു. കൈക്കല്‍ ധരിച്ചു SiPu പു. എഴു തുക; ചേര്‍ക്ക, കെട്ടുക etc.

pāmsu √ (C. Te. pāṇču dirt) Dust പാ. കൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ച വഴി VCh. പാംസുലന്‍ soiled, unchaste.

pār̀uγa 5. (പറക്ക). 1. To fly, flutter, drizzle പക്ഷികള്‍ പാറുന്പോള്‍ CG. തത്തപാറി' പ്പറന്നു Onsp. — met. പാറിപ്പറന്നു പാഞ്ഞൂടുന്നു TP. മണ്‍പൊടി പാറി in winnowing. വിളക്കോടു പാറിയാല്‍ prov. (as പാററ). മഴ പാറപ്പാറ പ്പൊഴിയുക; പാറിപ്പറിച്ചു or പാറിപ്പറന്തല യായ്നടക്ക No. slovenly appearance. 2. to spread, unfold as wings. കിളിയോല പാറി = വി ടര്‍ന്നു 251; to be grazed മുള്ളുകൊണ്ടു പാറിയ പോ ലേ കണ്ടു MR. of skin (see വാറുക). VN. പാറല്‍ 1. flight; drizzling rain പാ. അ രി powder-like rice = കന്പു, So. താവലരി. 2. So. a float, raft = പാറു. v. a. പാററുക 1. To let fly, scatter about, sprinkle. പാററഇത്തുപ്പിയാല്‍ prov. to spit cunningly. കാററഉ മലകളെ പാററിക്കളയും VilvP. വെട്വെച്ചു പാററി blew from guns. 2. to dust മൂട പൊളിച്ചു പുല്ലും പൊടിയും പാ., നെ ല്ലു പാ. VN. പാററല്‍ = പാറല്‍, as മഴപ്പാററല്‍ drizzling rain.

pāvāḍa 5. (പാവു, ആട). 1. Cloth spread in the streets, as at a king's coronation നട പാ. വിരിക്ക, also awning പാ. കൊടിയും പട്ടും വിരിക്കയും Nal. 2. table-cloth or other sheet used to fan പാ. എടുത്തു വീശിയും, പഞ്ച വര്‍ണ്ണപ്പാ. വീശുവാനായി KR.

paṭṭam 5. S. (fr. പത്രം?) 1. A streak, tie, metal plate. 2. an ornament of the forehead, diadem, a string of jewels as worn by Rājas & idols നെററിപ്പ.; hence പ. കെട്ടുക to crown, ഭ്രാതാവെ പ. കെട്ടിച്ചു Mud. 3. high dignity, ordination & tonsure പ. വെട്ടുക, കൊ ടുക്ക. pūnduγa So. (fr. പൂഴു). To sink in the ground, വിശിഖം പൂന്തി ChS. പൂത്തു, കുഴിപ്പൂത്തു So. a grave. v. a. പൂത്തുക (പൂഴ്ത്തുക) 1. to press into ചവിട്ടിച്ചളി യില്‍ പൂത്തും MR. (a threat). മുട്ട എഴു തി നെല്ലില്‍ പൂ a kind of charm; suspected persons must take a certain egg out of a heap of rice, when the thief will be detected. ചക്രം എഴുതി ധനുമ്മേല്‍ പൂത്തേക്ക Mantr. തീയില്‍കൊണ്ട കായി പൂത്തി (to cook it). 2. to bury ശവം എത്ര ആഴം കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു പൂ ത്തിയതു jud. — also met. നേരിനേ പൂത്തു, ക ളവു പൂത്തു (vu. — ത്തി) പറഞ്ഞു = മറെച്ചു. (പൂ:) പൂന്തുകില്‍ a fine flowered cloth മഞ്ഞപ്പൂ' ലും Bhr. (of K/?/šṇa's), Pay. പൂന്തുറ N. pr. the original abode of the ancestors of Tāmūri (ഏറാടിമാര്‍), who thence is called കോഴിക്കോട്ടു പൂന്തുറക്കോന്‍ KU. പൂന്തേങ്ങ B. the bulbous root of lotus.

peḷi = പൊളി. A chip രണ്ടു പെളിയാക്കി Bhg 10. പെളിക = പിളക്ക, പൊളിക (C. Te. peṭlu) to burst, as boils മുഴ പെളിയും a. med. പാരമേല്‍ വീണുടന്‍ മെയ്യും പെളിഞ്ഞു, വാ രിജം അന്നത്തിന്‍റെ വാര്‍നഖം ഏററു പെ ളിഞ്ഞതു CG. പെളിക്ക 1. v. a. = പൊളിക്ക to burst, split ചെന്നായ്ക്കളെ പെളിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു Bhr. (one eaten by them). മീന്‍ പെ. to disembowel fish. കൂടിതു പെളിയാതേ Mud. without breaking the cage. നിന്‍ ചെവി പെളിപ്പന്‍ RS. 2. v. n. intens. അവിട മുറിഞ്ഞാല്‍ ചോര പെളിച്ചു വെതുവെതപ്പായും MM. will spirt forth.

paδir (T. പതര്‍, C. hadiru an unripe fruit) Empty corn-husk, chaff നെല്ലു ചേറി പ. പോക്കി MR. doc. പ. പിടിക്ക to winnow. പഴ ഞ്ചൊല്ലില്‍ പ. ഇല്ല prov. — (തീപ്പതിര്‍ 461). പതിരിക്ക V1. rice to be without grain. പതിര്‍മ്മ (No. loc. f. i. നിലത്തിന്‍റെ) = പതുമ.
