puḷḷi T. M. (= പുള്ളടി? C. Te. Puḷḷi, a thin piece of grass, straw = പുല്ക്കൊടി). 1. A dot, spot, point പൂച്ചത്തോലില്‍ പു. കുത്തി പു ലിത്തോല്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു VyM. പു. യുള്ളൊരു പട്ടും തരുവാന്‍ SG. (= വീരാളിപ്പട്ടു). പു. പു. യാ യിരിക്ക to be much spotted. ആരിയപ്പു. a kind of spots on cattle. കടകം പുള്ളിക്കാള with spots on the neck, belly & feet (claimed by Rājas) — (also N. pr. of places f. i. പരുത്തി പ്പുള്ളി). 2. the mark s in gram., the vowel എ. 3. a cipher, nought. 4. an article or person, and their valuation. ചെറു പു. a trifle. — പാറാപ്പു. a prisoner. പുള്ളിക്കാരന്‍ (4), നല്ല പു. a man of note, influential = തറവാട്ടുകാരന്‍. — പു'ക്കാര്‍ Trav. tax-payers. — പുള്ളിക്കാരത്തി f. = തറവാട്ടുകാര ത്തി, also beautiful. പുള്ളിക്ക V1. to be spotted, speckled. പുള്ളിക്കുത്തു flaw in cloth, etc. പുള്ളിച്ചി f. (1) M. spotted f. i. പു. പ്പശു. പുള്ളിത്താപ്പു a private mark of price on cloth. പുള്ളിപ്പുലി a leopard; this as well as പുള്ളി നരി are considered royal property KU. പുള്ളിപ്പുലിയന്‍ N. pr. a Paradēvata. പുള്ളിമാന്‍ a spotted deer. പു'ങ്കണ്ണി SiPu. പു' ങ്കരനു പോലുമാമല്ല RC. to Siva, — also പു ള്ളിമറിമാന്‍ Sil. പുള്ളിവസത്രം spotted cloth as given after പുങ്ങം. പുള്ളിവിളക്കം So. 1. examination of accounts. 2. registration of anything in the names of persons after ascertaining their rights. B. (പുള്ളിവിളങ്ങുക). പുള്ളിയാരന്‍ N. pr. a deity of mountaineers.

piḍāγa So. A district; friendship. പിടാകക്കാരന്‍ head of a district; a friend. B.

pāḍalam S. (പടലം). pale red, pink colour. പാടലാധരികുലമൌലി Bhr. with fine lips. പാടലി S. the trumpet-flower, (= പാതിരി).

paṇayam T. M. (പണ്യം or പണം 4.) 1. A bet, stake ചൂതില്‍ ഓരോ പ'ങ്ങള്‍ പ റഞ്ഞു Nal.; എന്തൊന്നു വെക്കുന്നിതു പ. DN. അവളെ പ. പറക, ചൂതിന്ന് ഒക്കവേ പ'ത്തി ലായി നമ്മുടെ രാജ്യം Nal. കലഹിച്ചു പ. പറ ഞ്ഞു KR. two birds trying who may be quickest (also ജയം പറക, വാതു etc.) ചൂതു പൊരു താന്‍ അസംഖ്യം പ'മായി Bhg. 2. a pledge, pawn കൊത്തുന്ന കത്തി പ'മാക്കൊല്ല prov.; പ. കണ്ടേ കൊടുക്കാവു KU.; കുഴല്‍ ൪ പണ ത്തിന്നു പ. വെച്ചു, തറവാട് എനക്കു പ. വെച്ചു TR. പ. നിറുത്തുക to seize a pledge for reprisal. പ. എടുക്ക V1. to redeem it. Kinds: വല്‍ പ. double the value of the money borrowed KU., തൊടു പ. (& ചൂണ്ടിപ്പ.) mortgage of grounds without handing them over, ചുരിപ., ജന്മപ. etc.

paṇgam S. Mire; also morally: പങ്കങ്ങള്‍ അകന്നുപോം Bhr. sins. പങ്കജം. പങ്കേരുഹം lotus flower, = താമരപ്പൂ (often in po.) പങ്കപ്പാടു B. affliction. — പ. ചെയ്ക to vex. — പ. ഏല്ക്ക to suffer oppression etc. പങ്കിലം muddy. പ'മായ പദപങ്കജം VCh.

pandal T. M. Te. (C. handara, fr. ബന്ധ) 1. Temporary shed of leaves or wicker-work, erected esp. for marriages, feasts. പ. ഇടുക (വീശുക No. Cal.) to erect one. തണ്ണീര്‍പ്പ. a shed where water is given to travellers. മുല്ല വല്ലികളെക്കൊണ്ടു നല്ലൊരു പന്തലായ്നിന്നു മീ തേ CG. the house looked arbourlike. പ. മാടുക to sweep the eating place after a meal. 2. marriage ceremony as പന്തിയും പന്തലും q. v. 3. = ബന്തര്‍ harbour വടകരപ്പ'ലില്‍ താഴേണം TP., പ'ലില്‍നിന്ന് ഓടുക, കുന്പഞ്ഞി പ്പ'ലില്‍ വന്നാല്‍ ഒരു ഭയവും ഇല്ല TR. denV. പന്തലിക്ക to spread like an arbour, be shady. വീടു പ'ച്ചിരിക്ക V1. not sufficiently sloped, to be pandal-like. പന്തല്‍ക്കാല്‍ the pole supporting a shed. പ. നാട്ടക ceremony of fixing it. പന്ത(ല്‍)ക്കാവല്‍ a fee consisting in a part of the crop to the slave that has watched it. പന്തളം N. pr. a principality of 5 കാതം between ഓണനാടു & വേണാടു KU.

pišaγuγa (C. Te. pesagu, pe/?/agu to wrestle = പിണങ്ങു T. to go out of joint, fall out fr. പിഴ). 1. To wrangle, quarrel തമ്മില്‍ പിശകീട്ടു Bhg. അതിര്‍ തൊട്ടു ജന്മേശ ന്മാര്‍ തമ്മില്‍ പിശകി VyM. വില ചൊല്ലി പ്പിശകി in a bargain. കാശിനു പിശകുന്ന ത രുണി Anj. 2.
