vāstu S. (വസ്). 1. Site of a building. 2. a new house വാ. ബലി കഴിക്ക Bhr. (vu. also before കൊടിയേററം at the beginning of a festival, or to get rid of any ഉപദ്രവം); വാ. പൂജ dedication on the day when the doors are set up. 3. (loc.) the God of the builders (ആ ശാരി), supposed to indicate the qualities of each site & direct the workmen; he sleeps on the ground, the head toward SW., the feet NE. [No. ബലി as കുററിപൂജ 274., or against any ഉരദ്രവം is offered to തച്ചുഗുളികന്‍]. വാസ്തുചീര, (S. വാസ്തുകം) Chenopodium album; also നാട്ടുചീ., പരിപ്പുചീ. വാസ്തോഷ്പതി S. genius of the house; Indra.

vaγukka T. M. (= പകു) To divide. VN. വകുപ്പു 1. kind, sort വസൂരി വ., ആകാ ത്ത വകുപ്പോ V1. 2. section, paragraph. മൂന്നാം വ'പ്പില്‍ MR. under the 3rd head.

vipraǹ S. (വിപ്). Inspired, a poet, Brahman വിപ്രജാതിയില്‍ വളര്‍ന്നു, ശോഭിക്കുന്ന വിപ്രേശ്വരന്മാര്‍ KU. വിപേന്ദ്രന്മാര്‍ AR. വി പ്രശാപം Nid. വിപ്രത CG. Brahmanity; also വിപ്രത്വം ല ഭിച്ചു Bhg., പ്രാപിച്ചു Brhmd. (Višvāmitra). (വി) വിപ്രമാണപരിചായി ചൊല്ലും കടം VyM. without documentary proof.

virunnụ T. M. (C. Te. വിന്ദു, see വിരകു ക or വൃന്ദം). An entertainment, feast; number of guests, visit മരുന്നും വി.൦ ൩ നാള്‍, വി. ചോറുണ്ടു prov. വി. ഉണ്മാന്‍ Anj. വിരുന്നൂണു കഴിച്ചു, മന്ദിരം പുക്കു വിരുന്നൂണും ഉണ്ടു CG. അവരെ വിരുന്നൂട്ടുവാന്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയി KN. കാക്ക വി. കുറിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞാല്‍ വി.വരും superst. രണ്ടാള്‍ വി. വന്നു vu. വിരുന്നന്‍ a guest, new-comer V1.; വിരുന്തന്‍ N. pr. വിരുന്നുകാരന്‍ a guest; host. വിരുന്നുക്ഷണം, — വിളി invitation. വിരുന്നൂട്ടു = വിരുന്നൂണ്‍. (see ab.) വിരുന്നൂണി an uninvited guest, parasite. വിരുന്നുവാഴി = ഭരിപ്പുകാരന്‍ So., വിളന്പന്‍ No.

vraṇam S. (L. vulnus). A wound, ulcer = പുണ്‍, vu. വൃണം. വ്രണപ്പെടുക to be wounded; ബ്രാഹ്മണനെ വ്ര'ത്താതേ തള്ളിക്കളക VyM.

vasūri, (മ — S.) Small-pox of many kinds: ആനച്ചിറിയന്‍, അമരി, കല്ലമരി, മുതിര പ്പരപ്പന്‍, എഴുത്താണിക്കുത്തന്‍, കണ്കുഴിയന്‍, ആനയടിയന്‍, കൊത്തന്പാലരി മണിയന്‍ (778), ചക്കമുളളന്‍ etc.; വസൂരിചപ്പുക 346. = അമരുക. വ. മുറിച്ചുവെക്ക, കീറിവെക്ക, കുത്തുക to vaccinate, as കുരുപ്പു (mod.).

vaiyaγam T. aM. (വൈ 4.). The world, earth വയ്യകത്താരും തിരിപ്പോരില്ല Anj. — വയ്യം T. aM. id., വയ്യം ഏഴിലും ഇരിട്ടക ററും RC. (the sun).

vēṭṭa T. C. Te. M. (Tu. bōṇḍa, വേടന്‍). Hunting, chase വേട്ടെക്കു പോയാന്‍ CC. പള്ളി വേ. Bhr. വേ. കോലുക, ആടുക to chase. വേ ട്ടെക്കു വന്നുള്ള കാട്ടാളര്‍ CG. വേ. കാട്ടുക to show one's game. വേട്ടക്കാരന്‍ a hunter; പക്ഷിവേ.
