(superst.) destruction or poverty. 2. a cypher, dot, Tdbh. സൊന്ന. 3. So. T. witchcraft (bringing to nought; envy V1.) ശൂ. പറക to speak evil; see പഞ്ജ ശൂന്യം. ശൂന്യക്കാരന്‍ V1. envious; — ത്തി a witch. ശൂന്യാണ്ടിക്ക V1. to mock, scoff.

šuṇṭhi S. (= ചുണ്ടി 2,372). Dry ginger; fig. ശു. യും കടിച്ചവന്‍ ഘോഷിച്ചു PT. flew out. ശുണ്ഠിക്കാരന്‍ peevish, quarrelsome, passionate; also ശുണ്ഠിതന്‍ ChS.

šalam S.(= ചല്‍). The quill of a porcupine. ശലഭം S. a locust, cricket. ശലഭോപമര്‍ Bhr. (men). അഗ്നിയില്‍ ശ. എന്നപോലേ Sk. (soon destroyed). ശലാക S. 1. rod, ramrod; surgeon's probe വെള്ളി —, പൊന്‍ —. 2. wire, also ശി—, ശ്ലാക vu.; also gold-lace V1. പൊന്നിന്‍ ശ്ലാ ഖകള്‍ MC.

šyāmam S. Black, dark-blue, also ശ്യാ മളം, f. i. ശ്യാമൈകവര്‍ണ്ണങ്ങളായ കുതിരകള്‍ Brhmd.

šrēyas S. (ശ്രീ). 1. Better, best. ശ്രേയാന്‍ m. 2. prosperity, happiness തങ്ങ ളെ ശ്രേ. ൦ഗുണങ്ങളും കേട്ടു, നമുക്ക് അതു കൊ ണ്ടു ശ്രേ. വരേണം TR. ശ്രേ. ഉണ്ടാക ഭവാനു KR. ശ്രേയസ്സുളില്‍ ഒന്നു മുഖ്യം Bhg. the highest good (=പുരുഷാര്‍ത്ഥം) is ഭക്തി. ശ്രേഷ്ഠം S. (Superl.) best, superior; മുനിശ്രേ ഷ്ഠന്‍ etc. ശ്രേഷ്ഠത,— ത്വം S. excellency, superiority. ശ്രേഷ്ഠി S. the head-man of a trade or art ശ്രേ. വര്‍ത്തകന്‍ Mud. (hence ചെട്ടി 380.). ശ്രേ. യും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു Nal. the merchant (hon.). — സര്‍വ്വനഗരശ്രേഷ്ഠ്യം (S. superiority) Mud. authority over.
