šrēyas S. (ശ്രീ). 1. Better, best. ശ്രേയാന്‍ m. 2. prosperity, happiness തങ്ങ ളെ ശ്രേ. ൦ഗുണങ്ങളും കേട്ടു, നമുക്ക് അതു കൊ ണ്ടു ശ്രേ. വരേണം TR. ശ്രേ. ഉണ്ടാക ഭവാനു KR. ശ്രേയസ്സുളില്‍ ഒന്നു മുഖ്യം Bhg. the highest good (=പുരുഷാര്‍ത്ഥം) is ഭക്തി. ശ്രേഷ്ഠം S. (Superl.) best, superior; മുനിശ്രേ ഷ്ഠന്‍ etc. ശ്രേഷ്ഠത,— ത്വം S. excellency, superiority. ശ്രേഷ്ഠി S. the head-man of a trade or art ശ്രേ. വര്‍ത്തകന്‍ Mud. (hence ചെട്ടി 380.). ശ്രേ. യും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു Nal. the merchant (hon.). — സര്‍വ്വനഗരശ്രേഷ്ഠ്യം (S. superiority) Mud. authority over.

šunaγaǹ S. (ശ്വന്‍). A dog പടുക്ക ളായ ശു'ങ്ങള്‍ KR. — ശുനി S. id. കഴുകികളും ശു നികളും നിറഞ്ഞു CrArj. on a battle-field.

šlāgha S. Praise; also തന്‍െറ ശ്ലാഘി തത്തിന്നു ഹാനി വരും PT. honor. ശ്ലാഘിക്ക S. to eulogize മയിലുകളെശ്ലാ'ച്ചു Arb. സമര്‍ത്ഥരായ ജനങ്ങളെക്കുറി ശ്ലാ'പ്പാന്‍ ഇ ടവരും vu. ശ്ലാഘ്യന്‍ S. praiseworthy, venerable (Tdbh. ചാക്യാര്‍; ചാക്കി 352). — അവളെ ശ്ലാഘ്യ പ്പെടുത്തി KN. commended.

šudraǹ S. 1. A man of the 4th caste ഭക്തിയുള്ളവന്‍ ശൂ. ആയാലും ശൂ. അല്ല Bhg. 2. a Nāyar, chiefly lower Nāyar, their occupations ചങ്ങാതം പട നായാട്ടു മുന്നാഴിപ്പാടുകാ വല്‍ ഇല ശൂദ്രധര്‍മ്മം; their house ശൂദ്രവീടു; ശൂദ്രമര്യാദ കൊടുത്തുപറഞ്ഞു TR. spoke disrespectfully to the N. f. ശൂദ്ര & — ദ്രി; മാപ്പിള്ള ഒരു ശൂദ്രത്തിപ്പെണ്ണു ങ്ങളെ അപരാധം ചെയ്തു TR. ശൂദ്രമ്മ (Coch.), ശൂദ്രസ്ത്രീ.
