dīkša S.(desid. of ദക്ഷ് to try & fit oneself) 1. Initiation, esp. for sacrifice; all the observances. 2. consecration. ശിവദീക്ഷ V1. devoting oneself to Siva = ശൈവം. — ഗര്‍ഭദീക്ഷ (Brahmans not shaving during each pregnancy of their wives; low castes seldom & then only during the first one). 3. mourning & ceremonies for the deceased, (in lower castes വാലാ യ്മ). dynmnam S. (ദ്യു) Vigour, wealth.

P. dast (= S. ഹസ്തം).
