nōkkuγa T. M., (aC. നോള്‍പു). 1. To look at, view, observe. പാരാതെ നീഎ ന്നെ ഒന്നു നോക്കേണമേ Anj. view mercifully! നോക്കാന്‍ പോ visit! ശ്രീരാമന്‍ മുഖത്തു നോ ക്കാതേ ഇരിക്കുന്നെങ്ങനേ KR. — With Loc. മുഖ ത്തില്‍ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു CG,; വഴിക്കു Bhr. towards. — With എന്നു, f. i. ഉള്ളില്‍ ഇണങ്ങിനേന്‍ എന്നങ്ങു നോക്കുന്ന കള്ളനോക്കു CG. a roguish look hinting: I love you. നിന്‍റെ വരവു നോ ക്കി Genov. expected. 2. to look after, കണ്ട വും പറന്പും നോക്കായ്ക TR. to leave off cultivation. കുന്പഞ്ഞിക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ രാപ്പകല്‍ നോക്കി ഇരിക്ക TR. to pay every attention to business. 3. to examine (see നോട്ടം), try ഊക്കുകൊണ്ടി നി നോക്കുക വേണ്ടു Bhr. let us fight it out; so തമ്മില്‍ നോ. to look each other in the face. കുന്പഞ്ഞിയോടു വഴിപോലെ ഒന്നു നോക്കേണം, മാപ്പിള്ളയോട് ഒന്നു നോക്കിപ്പോകേണം TR. try our strength against. കളിപ്പന്‍ നോക്കി, പ ഠിച്ചപോല്‍ ഒക്കയും നോക്കാം TP. try my best. ഉപ്പുനോക്കുക to see whether the salt is enough (in cooking). 4. to be in a certain direction പുരം നോക്കിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടു ChVr.; താവകദേശ ത്തെ നോക്കീട്ടു പോവതിന്നായി CG. homewards. വിണ്ണിനെ നോക്കി നടന്നാന്‍ തിണ്ണം CG. to heaven; hence പിന്നോക്കിപ്പോരുക, & contracted അങ്ങോക്കി, വൈയോക്കി. 5. to seek. പെണ്‍നോക്കിപ്പോയി TP. to look out for a wife. നോക്കിപ്പോയ ശിപ്പായി TR. who searched for them. തത്വനാനാത്വം നോക്കി പോവതു സാരമല്ല Bhg.; നോക്കി നടക്ക etc., hence esp. adv. attentively, carefully. 6. to consider, regard ാളെ നോക്കിപ്പെണ്ണും മരം നോക്കിക്കൊടിയും, hence നമ്മേ നോക്കി മാ പ്പേക്കണം TR. for my sake. കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ നോ. to intend etc.

nišiδam S. (ശാ)&നിശാതം Sharpened.

nimḃam S. (C. Tu. Te. lime tree). Melia azadirachta. നിംബാദികഷായം (നി ന്പാതി MM.) a medicine with വേപ്പിന്തോള്‍ etc. (നി): നിയതം S. (part. of യമ്) Restrained, regulated. അതും നി'മല്ല നിണക്കെടോ Anj. not lawful. ഒരു ശാസ്ത്രത്തിങ്കലും നി'മല്ല KeiN., ചതുരശ്രമായിട്ടിരിക്കമത്രേ എന്നു നി. nāmam S. (√ ജ്ഞാ or മ്നാ) 1. A name നാ. ധരിക്ക, ഇടുക. — ദശരഥനാമ്നാ AR. (Instr.) — Esp. a name descriptive of attributes, as തിരുനാ. the names of Višṇu (generally 27, but also സഹസ്രനാ.), repeated as morning prayer. തിരുനാമങ്ങള്‍ ഇല്ലാതേ പോകയോ GnP. തിരു നാമമാഹാത്മ്യം the efficacy of such repetitions. നാ'മങ്ങള്‍ ഓതുക, ജപിക്ക Bhg. 2. a sectarian mark of Vaišṇavas ഗോപിനാമക്കുറി. 3. the noun (gram.). Hence: നാമകം bearing the name, രാമനാമക മായ മോതിരം KR. = നാമാങ്കിതം. നാമകരണം giving the infant a name = പേ രിടുക, generally on the 12th day പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ദിനം നാ. അവര്‍ക്ക് എല്ലാം KR.; also പുത്ര നു നാമകര്‍മ്മം ചെയ്ക Bhg. നാമകീര്‍ത്തനം; = നാമസങ്കീ.; തിരുനാമജപം Bhg. നാമധാരി (1) having the name; (2) wearing the Vaišṇava mark, (നാമധാരണം). നാമധേയം PT. a name. നാമമാത്രം having only the name, Bhg. നാമമാല (1) a list of holy names; (3) a dictionary. നാമവാന്‍ having the name, നാരദനാ. നന്മുനി CG. നാമര്‍ N. pr. m., കുഞ്ഞ്യാമറേപ്പാട്ടു TP. നാമവൃത്തി occupation with holy names, നിന്നു ടെ നാ. എന്നിയേ ചിന്തയില്ല KR. നാമശാലി named, എന്ന പേരോടും കൂടേ നാ' യാം സിംഹത്താന്‍ PT. നാമശേഷം of which the name only remains. ഭീമമാകിയ പരാക്രമം എല്ലാം നാ. ഇവതേ ChVr. thou, Bhīmasēna, appearst only

niruddham S. (നി) Obstructed ഭ ര്‍ത്തൃനിരുദ്ധ Bhg. in spite of the husband. മ ന്ത്രങ്ങള്‍കൊണ്ടു നി'നായ്പോകയാല്‍ അന്ധനായ ഭോഗി CG. നിരുദ്ധി = നിരോധം, in നിരുദ്ധ്യാസനം KeiN. constancy in studying the Vēdānta or carrying it into practice = മനസ്സില്‍ ധരിച്ചതിനെ സ്വാനുഭൂതിയില്‍ കാണ പ്പെടുന്നതു VedD.

neyγa 5. To weave; to plait mats. നെ യിതതിന്നു തക്കകൂലി. VN. I. നെയ്ത്തു weaving; നെയ്ത്തുകാരന്‍ a weaver, നെ. തറി, നെ. കോല്‍ a loom. നെയ്പു a large mat for treading out corn, in sandy districts. VN. II. നെയ്യല്‍ weaving, (act.).
