paδaġam S. (പതം S. flight). A bird, also പതംഗം. — പതംഗന്‍ the sun ഉദിത്തുയര്‍ത ങ്കനും RC. പതഞ്ജലി N. pr. a famous philosopher, grammarian, etc. പതത്രം a wing. പതത്രി a bird, also പതല്‍ (falling, flying). പതനം S. 1. flying, falling (see പാദപതനം).

pannaġam S. (പന്നം part. Of പദ്). A snake, as going along the ground പ. വാ യിലേ CG. — പന്നഗശായി RC. Višṇu— പന്നഗ വിഭ്രഷണന്‍ AR. Siva. പന്നഗാശികള്‍ ചെന്നു കുഴിക്കുന്നതു പോലേ Mud. pigs.

paḍaṇṇụ T. aM. 1. A tent, awning മണിപ്പടങ്ങിന്‍ മിചെവൈത്തു RC.; also a flag (Te.). ഉരപ്പെഴും പടക്കു വേന്തന്‍ RC. 2. So. a slip put under timber to push it more easily, പ. തടി B. (a roller).

= പൊത്തു (C. bōdu). A hole as in worm-eaten wood; പാന്പിന്‍റെ പോതില്‍ Is. 11, 8; പോതുളളതു V2. concave. — (see പോടു).

poγiṇa, പൊകണ Vl. and പോണ The green imperial pigeon, Carpophaga sylvatica, said to remain always on the highest trees. പൊ. കറുകുന്നതു കേട്ടോ ചാപ്പ TP. No. also പൂണ. പൊകുട = പൂട Down പൊ. രോമങ്ങള്‍, കഴുകന്‍ തലയില്‍ പൊ. അല്ലാതേ തുവ്വല്‍ ഇല്ല MC.

pilāvu (T. palā, Tu. pellā, C. halasu, Te. S. panasa). The jack-tree, Artocarpus integrifolia; പ്ലാങ്ങാ GP 69., പിലാന്പഴം V1., പി ലാവുഫലമരം ഒന്നിന്നു 4 3/20 ഉറുപ്പിക TR. the yearly produce in 1798. — Kinds: കടപ്പി. Morinda citrifolia (also = പുന്ന Calophyllum), കാ ട്ടു — (= ആയിനി, the bark yields a med. red dye), ദ്വീപു — (വിലാത്തിപ്പി. bread-fruit tree) Artoc. incisifolia. പിലാച്ചാണം a stinking tree. V2. പിലാവില the leaf used as spoon, a spoon made to its pattern എതിരവേ ഒരു പി' വില സേവിക്ക a. med. പച്ചപ്പിലാവില ചി രിക്കേണ്ടാ prov. പിലാപ്പൊത്തു: തുലാ പത്തു കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ പി' ത്തിലും പാര്‍ക്കാം prov. (a hollow jack-tree). പിലാവുള്ളി loc. No. = ബൊംബായുള്ളി a large white onion. പിലാശു, പിലാചു a. med, see പലാശം, പ്ലാശു.

paḷḷa (deep, see foll.) 1. Cavity, pit, hole മീന്‍ പ. also വളെക്കു ൨ പളള; a small creek or inlet, opp. കോടി f. i. തലാഴിപ്പളള Tell. പറ ന്പിന്‍റെ പളള the part of a compound which lies deepest. പളെളക്ക് ആട്ടുക Palg. to keep to the edge of a road. 2. the stomach, belly പ. യും വീര്‍ത്തു പൊട്ടി PT.; ൪ പ. കള്‍ MC; പ. യില്‍നിന്നു പോക്കു diarrhœa. പളെളക്കലെക്കു TP. (from grief). പളെളക്കാക്ക Palg. (I/?/awars) to take one's meals. പളെളടേ പണ്ടം V1. the stomach. 3. (aC. പളു, T. പഴുവം) a forest. 4. ഒരു പളളക്കായി a comb, cluster of fruits = പടല. പളളക്കാടു (3) thicket of a jungle. പളളയം T. V1. a basin, dish. പളളയാടു T. V1. (2) a small prolific kind of goats. പളളവട്ടി a large basket. പളളവില്ലി (3) a caste of mountaineers V1.

pāṇḍ/?/u S. 1. = പാണ്ഡരം, പാണ്ഡുരം, whence പാണ്ഡു. 2. N. pr. the brother of Dhritarāshṭra, Bhr. 3. a bilious dropsy or white leprosy. പാണ്ഡ്യദേശം S. = പാണ്ടി 2.; its king പാ ണ്ഡ്യന്‍; ശൌണ്ഡ്യരായ്നിന്നുളള പാണ്ഡ, മഹീ ശന്മാര്‍ CG.
