pāṇaǹ T. M. (T. പാണ്‍ = പണ്‍ melody). A caste of musicians, actors & players; in So. T. also tailors B., necromancers D. (= മുന്നൂററന്‍, മലയച്ചെക്കന്‍, പറയന്‍). പാ' ന്‍റെ നായി പോലേ prov. പാ'നോട് ഒപ്പിക്കും എന്നെ ആചാര്യനോ Bhr. — കീഴ്പാണന്‍ V1. a caste of slaves. പാണത്തി V1. പാണച്ചി, പാട്ടി fem. പാണനാര്‍ N. pr. a low-caste sage തിരുവരി യഴങ്കത്തുവാണെഴും പാ.

poṭṭa (T. blindness, Tu. dumb). 1. What is broken, maimed. 2. a stinging fly. 3. a plant the berries of which are used in popguns. പൊട്ടക്കണ്ണന്‍ So. blind, — ണ്ണി fem. പൊട്ടക്കലം a broken water-pot. പൊട്ടക്കാവളം the stinking Sterculia foetida (പൊട്ടക്കാളം Palg. a firewood-tree). പൊട്ടക്കിണറു a blind well, — ററില്‍ തളളിവി ട്ടാര്‍ Bhr.; also പൊട്ടക്കൂപം. പൊട്ടക്കുളം a waterless tank അട്ടെക്കു പൊ. prov. (so പൊട്ടക്കുഴി). പൊട്ടച്ചെവിയന്‍ deaf. പൊട്ടപ്പറന്പു No. = വെറും. പൊട്ടപ്പുല്ലു a kind of grass. പൊട്ട പറയാതേ RS. no nonsense! പൊട്ടയിടുക to smack. (No. നൊട്ട 2.)

pīčča (പീ or പിഞ്ചു, പീററ). What is small, dwarfish, immature പീ.ക്കുടുമ, പീച്ച ത്താടി (as of old women), പീച്ചംവാല്‍. പീച്ചന്‍ B. id.; also N. pr. of Tiars, No. പീച്ചക്കാലി a little crab in salt-rivers, with small legs, also പീച്ചാലി. പീച്ചക്കൈ T. the left hand V1. (പീച്ചു —). പീച്ചങ്ങ(ായി) the last small fruit of a bunch.

pandụ T. M. (Tdbh. of ബന്ധ), also പൊ ന്തു 1. A clew of thread. നൂല്‍പ്പ. etc. മരുന്നി ന്‍റെ മീതേ പ. the charge upon the powder in loading. 2. a ball of wood or pith, tennis ball. പന്തടിക്കക്കളി juggling with balls; also പന്തടി Sk. പന്തടിക്ക to play with balls, തല പലതറുത്തു ഞാന്‍ പ' ച്ചീടേനണം ChVr.
