paḍala T. M. (പടല്‍) 1. A cluster or comb of plantains. പ. വിരിഞ്ഞു the bunch has branched out, also എത്ര പടലം ഈ കുലയില്‍ (= ചീപ്പു). 2. (പടല്‍ 1.) a rough harrow (of ഇല്ലിക്കോല്‍). പ. വലിക്ക (Palg.), ഇടുക (Weṭṭ.) to harrow; met. എന്നെപ്പടലവലിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു പോയി he quarrelled with me & dragged me for some distance.

puṭṭa B. A. fox, jackal. പുട്ടല്‍ (& പിട്ടല്‍. = പുട്ടില്‍). പുട്ടല്‍പീര Trichosanthes anguina (പടോലം?).

peṭṭu 1. adv. part. (പെടുക). Getting into a direction, towards കീഴപെട്ടു തല്ലുവാന്‍ ഓങ്ങി യ നേരത്തു മേല്പെട്ടു പോയതു CG.; often വട്ടു, ഓട്ടു & treated as a noun, f. i. തെക്കോട്ടേക്ക് ഒഴുകും Bhg. 2. പെട്ടെന്നു പെട്ടന്നു suddenly, unexpectedly: either like the sound of having fallen, or from C. Te. Tu. പെട്ടു a blow, slap (in T. വെട്ടന violently).

pūḍa (T. പൂടു, പൂണ്ടു plant, grass?). Wool, fine hair, down of birds മാടപ്രാവിന്‍റെ പൂട കള്‍ Nid 29. (also പൊകുട). ആട്ടിന്‍ — wool, പൂച്ചപ്പൂട V1. cat's skin.

piḍikka T. C. M. (Tu. പിണ്‍ to know). 1. To seize, catch (മീന്‍); verb of general import, as കൈ പി., കാല്‍ പി. = അഭയം വീഴു

pāra T. M. (C. hāre, Tu. pārangi) 1. An iron crow, lever, bar, used esp. for digging, f. i. by thieves breaking through a wall (Mpl. ഒശീനക്കോല്‍). വലിയവന്‍റെ പൊന്‍ എടുപ്പാന്‍ എളിയവന്‍റെ പാ. വേണം, ഇരിന്പുപാ. വി ഴുങ്ങി ചുക്കുവെളളം കുടിച്ചു ദഹനം വരുത്താമോ prov. — Kinds: കടപ്പാര 190, കട്ടപ്പാ. ചക്കു പാ. തേങ്ങാപ്പാ. pāḷa T. Tu. M. C. 1. The spatha of a palm-blossom (പാണു, തെങ്ങഇ പാ.). 2. the bark or film of an areca-branch (കരിന്പാള 211), used as a vessel for gathering toddy (കപ്പാള), as hat (തൊപ്പിപ്പാള), bucket (കുത്തു പാ., ഒരു കുത്തിയ പാ. MR. stitched, also പാ ള കോട്ടുക No.). ഓകില്‍ ഊററുന്നത് പാളയില്‍ ഊററിതാ എന്ന പോലേ, തോട്ടന്തോറും പാള No. etc. അഛ്ശനമ്മമാര്‍ മരിക്കുന്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ ഒക്ക കൊട്ടയിലും പാ'യിലും ആയിരുന്നു mere babes; also പൊന്നുകൊണ്ട് പാ.
