paltmam S. (padma). 1. A lotus flower = താമരപ്പൂ, and what is like it, as a വ്യൂഹം Bhr. 2. a high number = 100,000 മഹാവൃന്ദം. One മഹാപ. = 100,000 പത്മം KR. പത്മഗര്‍ഭം S. 1. born from lotus. 2. a ceremony, the Rāja being born again out of a golden lotus, Trav. (see ഹിരണ്യഗര്‍ഭം). പത്മനാഭന്‍ S. from whose navel a lotus flower arises, Višṇu. ഇപ്പനകള്‍ ഏഴും എയ്ത പത്മ നാഭ Anj. of Rāma. Often പത്മനാഭസ്വാ മി & പ'നാഭി Višṇu. as worshipped in Tiruvanantapuram. — ശ്രീ പ'ഭദാസന്‍ title of the Travancore Rāja. — പ'ഭപുരം‍ N. pr. of the temple & palace in Travancore. പത്മരാഗം lotus-coloured; a ruby. പത്മാകരം a lotus-tank. പത്മാക്ഷന്‍, (പത്മേക്ഷണന്‍ AR.) m., — ക്ഷി f. lotus-eyed. പത്മാസനം one of the 9 postures in യോ ഗം. — പ'ന്‍, പത്മസംഭവന്‍ AR. pāppini (പാപ്പാന്‍) A caste of lower Brahmans, who purify Nāyars whilst their women sing at Nāyar marriages etc. (71 in Taḷipar̀ambu). പാപ്പുക്കോയില്‍ N. pr. = പറപ്പൂര്‍സ്വരൂപം (old).

paṇa T. (& പണ്ണ) M. Tu. (പണ്ണു). Ground which is worked, made firm (aC. forehead). കപ്പണ a stone-quarry, നിലന്പണ a place made firm for beating corn in a mortar, കടപ്പണ the post on which a weaver's loom rests. രാ ജാവിന്നു പണനില്പാന്‍ കഴിയുമോ No. can I withstand?
