paṇḍ/?/iδaǹ S. (പണ്ഡ wisdom, rather from Te., see prec.) 1. An accomplished, learned man എന്നോടു തികഞ്ഞ പ'നായി പേ ശുവതു RC. 2. a Pandit, law-officer അദാല ത്തു പ'ര്‍ക്കും നന്പൂരിക്കും ചെയ്ത ചോദ്യം TR. 3. T. Palg. പണ്ടിതന്‍ a Doctor = പണ്ടിതം അറിയുന്നവന്‍ (the art of healing). പണ്ഡിതമാനി, പണ്ഡിതമ്മന്യന്‍ fancying himself clever.

pattamāri (prh. Konkaṇi?; in T പ ത്താചു a boat, fr. Port, pataxopinnace). A Pattimar, native vessel larger than മഞ്ചി; Port. Patamar, (in KU. ദശമാരി). ചരക്കുകള്‍ കൊണ്ടു വരുന്ന പത്തെമാരി TR.

paḍavụ T. Te. M. 1. = പടകു. A ship. വള്ളവും വഞ്ചീപടവെന്നെല്ലാം PT. 2. (പടെ ക്ക) laying stones, pavement. നടുപ്പ. the central part of a wall (= filling, Arch ). വാതി ല്ക്കല്‍ കല്പടവിന്മേല്‍ on the threshold.

paṇḍam T. M. 1. (Tdbh.; പണ്യം) Valuables, jewels, that may serve as pawn (often = പണയം), as പൊന്‍പ. etc. 2. articles in general, ഉഴവുകൊണ്ടു പോയാക്കേണ്ടുന്ന പ. ഇവന്‍ PT. an ox; തിന്നുന്ന പ. & തീന്‍ പ. eatables. ദീവില്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതില്‍ പ. കൊണ്ടു വന്നു, ഓടിയില്‍ ഉള്ള തീന്‍ പ. കിഴിപ്പാന്‍ TR. the produce of the Laccadives = ചരക്കു (in Te. is paṇṭa produce, crop fr. പണ്‍ = പഴുക്ക). 3. (Tdbh. of ഭാണ്ഡം?) the crop of birds, stomach, craw തീന്‍ പ. V1.; ചത്ത ഉടുന്പിന്‍റെ പ. MM. (fr. പള്ള.). പണ്ടം അറുതിയായി (1) the sum advanced on a pawn with the interest due equalling the value of the article, = is forfeited. പണ്ടകം = പണ്ടംകൂറുള്ള ദ്രവ്യം V1. പണ്ടകശാല & പണ്ടശാല (T.) = പാണ്ടിശാ ല a storehouse, magazine. പണ്ടക്കായി, പണ്ടപ്പന see under പന. പണ്ടപ്പരപ്പു B. lying about like utensils; extensiveness.

puδa T. M. Tu. (C. Te. pode, podugu). 1. A cover പുതവെക്ക (= തൂപ്പു) to manure & irrigate the roots of pepper-vines etc. പുതവി ടുക്ക, നീക്കുക to uncover, lay open, speak out freely V1. പുത ഇടുക to sow broadcast (opp. മുളവിത്തു) & cover the seed with leaves (തൂപ്പു). 2. an outer garment. 3. the slime which covers tanks V1. v. n. പുതയുക 1. to be covored, intermingled V1. 2.
