paṭṭiṇi (T. — നി) Privation of food (പട്ടിണിപ്പാടു). പ. കിടക്ക to starve, go to sleep without a meal. ചൊക്കനെ പ. കിടത്ത രുതു TP. the dog must not be starved. ഒരു പ. കഴിക്ക to fast one day. മൂന്നേത്തേപ്പ. കിടന്നു TP. 3 days. പ. കരകയും SiPu. a starving child. പ. ഇടുക, വെക്ക to abstain from food as one day after a death; to dun by abstaining. ഞ ങ്ങളെ അറയിലാക്കി ൨ ദിവസം പ. യിട്ടു തച്ചു ഹേമിച്ചു TR. left without food. നീ പട്ടിണിയി ട്ടു കൊല്ലിച്ചീലയോ Mud.; പ. കൊണ്ടു പടക്കൂട്ട ങ്ങള്‍ തളരും VCh.; ഒട്ടകം കൊണ്ടു പ. തീര്‍ക്ക PT. to breakfast on the camel. പ. കളവാന്‍ VCh. പട്ടിണിനന്പി a Brahman who duns by sitting on his umbrella before a debtor's house, starving himself & those within. If not satisfied, he performs a funeral ceremony for the inmates, a curse more dreaded than death KU.

pāršvam S. (പര്‍ശു a rib). Side ഹിമ വല്‍ പാ. പുക്കാന്‍ Sank. Ach. അന്യായക്കാര ന്‍റെ പാ'ത്തില്‍ MR. (= പക്ഷം). മുതലിയാരെ തന്‍റെ പാരിശത്തില്‍ ആക്കി TR. gained over (Mpl. Tdbh.). പാര്‍ശ്വഗന്‍, പാര്‍ശ്വവര്‍ത്തി, പാര്‍ശ്വസേവി S. an associate, attendant.

pattanam S. (= പട്ടണം, fr. പററു) City; palace വിരാടന്‍റെ പ. തന്നില്‍ പാര്‍ത്തു Nal.

pūval 1. (VN. of പൂക്ക). Flourishing or T. M. red colour (=പൂവത്തു) in പൂവലംഗം, SiPu. പൂവല്‍മേനി, പൂവല്‍മൈ CG. a fine body. 2. B. a fruit with the flower attached, empty pod. 3. dampness, moisture (=പുകില്‍). മഴ പെയ്തു പൂല്‍ അടങ്ങിയിട്ടില്ല No. = നനവു മു ന്പേയുള്ള നനവോടെത്തിയില്ല the rain has not penetrated the soil. പൂല്‍ ഉള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു കുമിള്‍; വിത്തു ഇരുപൂലില്‍ ആയ്പോയി No. has sprouted only partly (the field must be resown). met. ഇന്നിന്നവനു നല്ല പൂല്‍ അല്ലേ = No. he thrives. 4. a crop എത്ര പൂവ്വലുള്ള നിലം, ഇരു പൂവ്വലുള്ളതു Arb. paltmam S. (padma). 1. A lotus flower = താമരപ്പൂ, and what is like it, as a വ്യൂഹം Bhr. 2. a high number = 100,000 മഹാവൃന്ദം.
