To be bad, evil (neg. of പൊല്‍ to shine, Te. be agreeable; prh. = ഒല്ലാ, വല്ലാ) പൊല്ലാ പിരിവതു RC. adj. part. പൊ. പേചുകില്‍, പൊല്ലാര്‍ കുലം RC. പൊല്ലാത bad പൊ. ഫലം വരും ഒല്ലാത കര്‍മ്മം ചെയ്താല്‍, പൊ. പൊയ്പറയും Bhr.; നല്ല കാര്യം എന്നും പൊല്ലാത്ത കാര്യം എന്നും KR. പൊല്ലാപ്പു T. So. Palg. (ഉണ്ടാക്ക) mischief, also പൊല്ലായ്മ. പൊല്ലാപ്പുക്കാരന്‍ Palg. Weṭṭ. a mischief-maker, തകറാര്‍ക്കാരന്‍.

pūnduγa So. (fr. പൂഴു). To sink in the ground, വിശിഖം പൂന്തി ChS. പൂത്തു, കുഴിപ്പൂത്തു So. a grave. v. a. പൂത്തുക (പൂഴ്ത്തുക) 1. to press into ചവിട്ടിച്ചളി യില്‍ പൂത്തും MR. (a threat). മുട്ട എഴു തി നെല്ലില്‍ പൂ a kind of charm; suspected persons must take a certain egg out of a heap of rice, when the thief will be detected. ചക്രം എഴുതി ധനുമ്മേല്‍ പൂത്തേക്ക Mantr. തീയില്‍കൊണ്ട കായി പൂത്തി (to cook it). 2. to bury ശവം എത്ര ആഴം കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു പൂ ത്തിയതു jud. — also met. നേരിനേ പൂത്തു, ക ളവു പൂത്തു (vu. — ത്തി) പറഞ്ഞു = മറെച്ചു. (പൂ:) പൂന്തുകില്‍ a fine flowered cloth മഞ്ഞപ്പൂ' ലും Bhr. (of K/?/šṇa's), Pay. പൂന്തുറ N. pr. the original abode of the ancestors of Tāmūri (ഏറാടിമാര്‍), who thence is called കോഴിക്കോട്ടു പൂന്തുറക്കോന്‍ KU. പൂന്തേങ്ങ B. the bulbous root of lotus.

puǹal T. M. C. (പുന്‍ also പുണല്‍). 1. A river കുരുതിപ്പു. RC. Bhr. (= ചോരപ്പുഴ), തീപ്പു., കണ്ണിന്‍പു. RC. tears (തുലയുക 471). 2. water കുളിപ്പാന്‍ പു. ഇല്ല Mpl. song, പുന ലാടി RC. bathed.

poδi T. M. C. (Tu. pude, see പുത). 1. A bundle, as of victuals; whatever envelopes കല ത്തിന്നു വായ്പൊതി കെട്ടുക a. med. 2. a full bag or bullock-load. പൊതി പിടിക്ക to be carried on beasts of burthen. ഇരുനൂറു പൊതി പുക യിലയും കച്ചയും TR. 3. a measure = 20 Iḍanga/?/i CS. ഒരു പൊതി അരി = മൂട (vu.). പൊതി നെല്ലു = 25 Iḍ. V1. (50 No.) ഒരു പൊതി ക്കു മുപ്പതു വിത്തു (Cavāi) others = 33½ Iḍang. അരിപ്പൊതി Arb.; also a number: 1 പൊതിച്ച ക്കര Cann. 100, Telly. 50, Cal. 10 pieces. പൊതിക്കാരന്‍ an owner of pack-bullocks. പൊതിക്കാള an ox of burthen. പൊതിക്കെട്ടു a bundle tied up ചോറു പൊ'ട്ടാ യി കെട്ടുന്നു TP. പൊതിച്ചോറു rice or victuals tied up for a journey ഒരു മുണ്ടില്‍ തൈര്‍ ഒഴിച്ചു പൊ. കെട്ടി Arb. പൊതിനാവു mint, Arb. Palg. (see പോതിക). പൊതിപ്പത്തു or പോററിപ്പത്തു a tenth of the seed-corn formerly paid to temples, but merged in the general assessment. W. പൊതിപ്പാടു a measure of rice-land requiring a Poδi of seed to sow it. എനിക്കു സ്വന്ത മായി ൬ പൊ. കണ്ടം ൧൨ പൊ. പണയം വക കണ്ടങ്ങള്‍ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു (Becal). പൊതിമാടു Palg. = പൊതിക്കാള.

parṇam S.1. (see പറക്ക — L. penna.). A feather, 2. a leaf = പത്രം, hence പ൪ണ്ണശാല a hut of leaves, hermitage, also പ൪ണ്ണക്കുടിയി ങ്കല്‍ നന്നായിരുന്നു KR. (S. & M.)

pura T. M. (fr. S. പുര്‍, പൂര്‍ wall, fort?) vu. പെര. A house, chiefly thatched house; hut, room കുളിപ്പു., ൦രംററുപു., നാലുപു., പുല്ലു പു. etc. കെട്ടുക, തീര്‍പ്പിക്ക, എടുക്ക TR. to build it. തീയന്‍റെ പുരചുട്ട TR. പറന്പും പുരയും; അകവും പുരയും അടിക്ക prov. പുരകൂട്ടു So. a roof. പുരക്കോപ്പുകള്‍ TR. building material. പുരച്ചൂടു arson (jud.) പുരത്തറ foundation, ground-floor. പുരത്തളം a palace-hall (po. പുരം?). പുരപ്പണം house-tax പറന്പിന്നു പു. വേണ്ടാ TR. പുരപ്പണി building പു. ക്കു കുമ്മായം TR. പുരപ്പുറം a roof (പു. അടിക്കും prov.; also outside of a house), പു. പൊളിക്ക to unroof. പു'ത്തു കയറി TR. പുരമുറി a room, closet. പുരമേല്പുര a two storied house (ഇരട്ടപ്പുര, മാ ളിക). പുരയിടം the site of a habitation; (loc.) compound. B. പുരയും കുടിയും the different home-steads പു. അടെച്ചു കെട്ടുക TR. താന്താന്‍റെ പു. നല്ല വണ്ണം കൊണ്ടു നടക്ക to care for his own.

pūluvaǹ (fr. foll. or = പുല്ലന്‍, പു ള്ളുവന്‍?) Palg. A palm-climbing caste lower than I/?/awars (Cochin enclave); a slave, low servant No. വീട്ടില്‍ പിറന്നവന്‍ പൂ. prov. പൂ ലുവ wretch! — ഞാന്‍ അവന്‍റെ പൂലുവത്തി യോ fem.; also പൂലുവപ്പട്ടി (abuse.). പൂല്‍ = പുകില്‍, പൂവല്‍.

pāḍalam S. (പടലം). pale red, pink colour. പാടലാധരികുലമൌലി Bhr. with fine lips. പാടലി S. the trumpet-flower, (= പാതിരി).
