Tirtāla (contr. മടാള്‍), മടാക്കത്തി Weṭṭ. a hatchet, small axe.

maḍal T. M. Tu. (Te. C. maṭṭa). 1. So. A palm-bough, see മട്ടല്‍. 2. a cadjan, palm-leaf as for thatching ഓരായിരത്തിന്നു ൭ ഉറുപ്പിക വില TR. (in 1796). പറന്പുതോറും ൩൩ മട ലോല എടുപ്പിച്ചു TR. (an arbitrary tax). 3. the husk of a cocoanut, coat of jack-fruits, etc. മ. അടര്‍ത്തുക to peel such. മ. തേങ്ങ a fresh cocoanut entire — മടല്‍പേടു (പേടു 704). — മ. പ്രാ യം stupid.

maḍayaǹ 1. T. So. A stupid person (മ ടം 3). 2. who has a sort of private temple മടപ്പുര etc. No. മടയുക, മടച്ചല്‍ (V1. a palm-leaf letter). To fold, braid — see മി —, മു —.

mā/?/γuγa T. M . (aC. māḷu, Ved. S. mark fr. മഴു). 1. To languish, grow faint മാഴ്കിത്തുട ങ്ങി സുരന്മാര്‍ Bhg. കണ്ണിണ മാഴ്കിച്ചമകയും KumK. മനസ്സു Bhr. to pine, yearn പേടിച്ചു വശം കെട്ടു മാ., പുണ്പെട്ടു മാ., മാഴ്കിത്തളര്‍ന്ന മുഖ ങ്ങളില്‍ തളിച്ചു CG. in swoon. അവന്‍ മാഴുന്നു, മാഴ്കുന്നു No. (rare) he faints. 2. to sleep, die; also മാളി. മാഴ്കാത = മങ്ങാത unfailing, unremitting മാ' തേ നിന്നൊരു സേനയുമായി CG. splendid, efficient; മാ'തേ കാത്തുകൊള്‍ക CG.

Ar. menāra, A turret, light-house, 'Minaret', also രണ്ടു മുന്നാരം Ti. മിന്നാരത്തേ പല്ലു = ഉമ്മരപ്പല്ലു.

mēṭi (Te. C. chief man = മേററി; or E. mate). A house-servant of foreigners. മേണിക്ക, ച്ചു vu. No. = മേടിക്ക, see വേണ്ടിക്ക.

Vl. മീന്നാറുക the smell of flesh & blood വാള്‍ എ ല്ലാം ചിലമീ'റും prov. മീന്നാറി a Sterculia ചന്ദനം ചാരിയാല്‍ മീ. മണക്കുല്ല prov. = പൂതിയുണര്‍ത്തി. മീന്‍പട Vl. (or — പടവു) fishery. മീന്‍പരപ്പു a fishing spot. മീന്‍പളള Nid. = കുഴ the calf of the leg. മീന്‍പാച്ചല്‍ spasms in the extremities, as in cholera. മീന്‍പിടിനായാടി a class of river-fishers. മീന്‍വാര്‍ച്ച a small fry.

mūδụ T. M.( മുതു). Prior, മൂതുവില the stem-part of a plantain leaf. മൂത്തപ്പന്‍, — ഛ്ശന്‍ 1. father's elder brother. 2. husband of an aunt, older than f. or m. 3. father's father അഛ്ശഛ്ശന്‍ (see മുത്ത പ്പന്‍ & പേരപ്പന്‍); also അഛ്ശാഛ്ശന്‍. മൂത്തമ്മ l. the elder sister of mother or father. 2. the wife of father's elder brother. 3. mother's mother. മൂത്താച്ചി a matron, father's or mother's mother = പേരമ്മ; മൂത്തി V2. a grandmother. മൂത്താര്‍, മൂത്തോര്‍ see മൂക്ക; hence: മൂത്തോരന്‍ & — ലന്‍ a jungle tribe; N. pr. m. മൂത്തേടത്തു കോവില്‍ (മൂക്ക) N. pr. a small principality So. of Cochin with മുട്ടം etc., the dynasty of which died out about 1600 A.D.
