mokkaḷam No. (Mpl. മൊക്കു, loc. T. മൊക്കൈ a notch). A hollow in the edge or gunwale of a boat to insert a pin (= thole-pin), to which the oar is hooked.

mēyya No. (= മേഷ). A flaw in a log of sawn or worked timber arising from its not having been properly squared.

maruδụ (T. — തം). Terminalia alata, a timber stronger than teak, heavier than water. Kinds: കരിമ — & വെണ്മ — Chuncoa. Buch.; നീര്‍മ — CG. Pentaptera arjuna (ഇന്ദ്രദ്രു S.); പെരുമ — & മുളപ്പൂമ — = മരാമരം 2.; താളി — = ചടച്ചി, പുല്ല — = വെണ്മ —, മഞ്ഞമരുതു, പു ഴമരുതു Palg.

miḍala (മിടയുക). A screen or wicket, ōlas platted together.
