koṇṇụ (C. bent) T. M. 1. prob. Mountain declivity, N. pr. of the Chēra or Kēraḷa country, esp. the country about Coimbatoor (similar കുടകു). 2. Bauhinia variegata. Hence: കൊങ്ങന്‍ = ചേരന്‍ a M. കൊങ്ങന്‍ കോഴി = ജാതിക്കോഴി. കൊങ്ങാഴി (see കൊങ്ങാ), a measure of 2½ നെല്ലു. കൊങ്ങുചക്കു AR. a peculiar oil-mill (as about Coimbatoor). കൊങ്ങിയന്‍ N. pr. a caste (86 in Taḷiparamb/?/).

čakka T.M. (Tdbh; ചക്രം) l. A big round fruit as of Artocarpus (പിലാവു), Ananas (കൈ ത —), bread-fruit (ദ്വീപുച. or ബന്പുച.), wild Artocarpus (മലഞ്ച.); ആത്തി q. v. ച; ആയി നിച്ച.; കാട്ടുച. Rh. = കടന്പു; ചിരച്ച. ഒരുത്തരു ടെ ചക്കയും തേങ്ങയും കട്ടിട്ടില്ല vu. ചക്കെക്കു തേങ്ങാ കൊണ്ടിട്ടും കൂട്ടേണം prov. Stages of growth of the jack-fruit: പൂതല്‍ No. or ചാവല്‍. q.v., ഇടിച്ചക്ക GP. see ഇടി, തറിച്ച. see തറി or കൊത്തഞ്ച. So. čakkụ (Tdbh.; ചക്രം) 1. Oilpress, (ചക്കു കണ the roller of it, ചക്കുകൊക്കു a wood on the top of the pestle, ചക്കുരല്‍ the mortar); sugar-mill etc. ചക്കിന്‍റെ മുരട്ടു കുട്ടന്‍റെ ചേല്‍ prov. ചക്കിലിട്ടമര്‍ത്തീടും എള്ളുപോലെ Brhmd. ചക്കില കപ്പെട്ടൊരിക്ഷു പോലെ ഞെരിക്ക CG. Kinds: നാട്ടുചക്കു, കൊങ്ങന്‍ചക്കു MR. 2. measure of oil-fruits ഒരു ചക്ക് എള്ളു etc. Hence: ചക്കാട്ടുക to work an oilpress. VN. ചക്കാട്ടു — ട്ടം the pressing of oil, etc. ചക്കാന്‍ m.— ാത്തി f. oilpresser, So. ചക്കാല the shed of an oilpress. ചക്കാലവാണി യന്‍& ചക്കോന്‍ KN. the caste of oil-makers, also ചക്കുകാരന്‍ MR. ചക്കില്ലാത്ത വാണി യന്‍ KN. an oil-seller. ചക്കുതോക്കു a mortar TR.— ചക്കുണ്ട a bomb, hence: ചക്കുവെടി bombarding. ചക്കുപാര an instrument for taking oilcake out of the press. ചക്കുപുര = ചക്കാല, also ചക്കിനമൂടു.

čukkụ T. M. C. Te. (shrivel = ചുരുക്കു, or Tdbh. ശുഷ്കം) Dry, as ചുക്കടക്ക, ചുക്കങ്കായി of plantains. കുറുക്കുല നെയ്യില്‍ വറുത്ത ചുക്കാ ന്പോള്‍ വാങ്ങി MM. ചുക്കാക വെന്തു a med. 2.dried ginger. ചുക്കുവെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു med. prov. ഭാരം ചക്കെക്കു പലം ചുക്കു prov. (in praise of dry ginger). S. what is worthless. Hence: ചുക്കുക, ക്കി to grow dry, shrivel (also ചുങ്ങുക).
