čakkara (Tdbh.; ശര്‍ക്കര) Jaggory, palm-sugar. ച'ക്ക് അകവും പുറവും ഒക്കും, ആനെ ക്കു ച. പന prov. (ആനച്ചക്കര a creeper eaten by elephants). Hence: ചക്കരക്കത്തിക്കാരന്‍ see കത്തി. ചക്കരക്കള്ളു toddy for making sugar (called ചക്കരക്കട്ടി). ചക്കരക്കള്ളന്‍ a red ant. ചക്കരപ്പാവു B. raw sugar, syrup; the inspissated palmyra-juice. Palg. ചക്കരപ്പൊട്ടിക്ക = ഞെട്ടാഞെടുങ്ങു.

čeδumbụ (T. ചെതിള്‍) Scales of fish, also ചെതുന്പല്‍ MC. (ചെത്തല്‍ & ചുണങ്ങു). ചെത്ത see ചെററ. ചെത്തം Tdbh., ശബ്ദം q.v. ചെത്തി = ചെക്കി q.v. also ചെവ്വന്തി.

čavar̀ụ (& ചവര്‍ q.v.) 1. Green leaves & rubbish used as manure (= തുപ്പു). ചപ്പും ച വറും തിന്നു കഴികയില്ല cannot live upon nothing. (see under ചപ്പു). അടിച്ചവര്‍ V2. sweepings. 2. useless part, pus in a boil ചവര്‍ അടിയുന്ന തു in eye disease; marrow of timber-trees, flaw. അതിന്‍റെ ച. നീങ്ങി it is now faultless. 3. ച കരിയോടു പററിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരുവക പൊങ്ങു. ചവറന്‍ So. a worthless fellow. ചവറില betel-leaf (ചവര്‍ 1.) ചവററില dried leaves. (Voc. of fem.). ഇകലില്‍ ചുവ പി റന്തു, ഇകലില്‍ ചുവ ഉണ്ടാം, ഇകല്‍ കിടക്കില്‍ ചുവ ചുരുക്കം RC. 2. unpleasant taste, as in fever; slight after-effects of former troubles, അല്പം ഒരു ചുവ ശേഷിപ്പുണ്ടു; അവസ്ഥകളുടേ ഓരോ ചുഴ കൊണ്ടു TR. ചുവക്കേടു V1. bad taste (വെള്ളത്തിന്നു ചു. ഉണ്ടു etc.) ചുവെക്ക 1. To taste = രസമറിക Nid. 2. to produce a taste പച്ചവെള്ളം ചുവെക്ക Nid. to taste like water. 3. to remain as after-taste. 4. = ചുവര്‍ക്ക V1. (ചവര്‍ & തുവര്‍). VN. ചുവപ്പു, vu. ചുഴപ്പു = ചവര്‍പ്പു.

T. M. (Tu. C. കെസരു, Te. ക്രച്ചു) 1. Mire, dirt. ചേററില്‍ അടിച്ചാല്‍, ചേറുകണ്ടേ‍ So ചവിട്ടിയാല്‍ prov. 2. wet soil. കണ്ടം ഉ ഴുതു ചേറാക്ക to work the surface of a field into a slush preparatory to transplanting rice. ചേററില്‍ കുത്തിയ കൈ ചോററില്‍ കുത്താം (of field-labour). — ചേറാലേ കോരിക്കുടിപ്പിക്കും എ ന്നെ Anj. with unwashed hands. ചേ. പിരളു ക feet to become dirty. ചേറും മുടയും prov. ചേറും പൊടിയും തുടെച്ചു Bhg. കഴിഞ്ഞു പോ യ ചേറിനെ അധികം പറഞ്ഞു കലക്കുവാന്‍ to stir up old quarrels. 3. = ചേര്‍ 3. čēla (S. ചേലം) 1. Cloth, esp. of women, f. നൂതനയായൊരു ചേല CG. പട്ടുനൂല്‍ ചേ. ക വര്‍ന്നു CG. പൂഞ്ചേല Bhr. (of a queen). 2. rough cloth = ചീല — so ആനച്ചേല elephant's covering V1. 3. No. boards joined to low-sided boats (ചേല കെട്ടുക). ചേലപ്പുടവ V1. a cloak, covering sheet. ചേലമരം Indian fig-tree, the bark of which serves as sackcloth (ചേല ചുററുക). ചേലാഞ്ചലംകൊണ്ടു മൂടി അണിമുഖം KR 3. veil, gaze.
