payala No. & പകല (see പശ & പ യി 2). The pulp inside the shell forming the cocoanut. പകല കെട്ടിയ കരിക്കു, പയല ഉറെ ച്ചാല്‍ ഇളന്നീര്‍. പയല്‍ Ar. fayl Strong, corpulent; massive as furniture.

pānam S. (പാ.) 1. Drinking. പാ ചെ യ്ക to drink. പാനനിദ്രകള്‍കൊണ്ടു വീണുറ ങ്ങുന്നു KR.; also met. അധരപാനം ചെയ്തു Bhr. kissed. സുന്ദരരൂപം കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു പാ. Bhg. 2. a beverage. പാനകം S. a cooling drink, lemonade. പാനപാത്രം S. a cup ഖഗ്ഗവും പാ'വും ശിരഃ കപാലവും ഖേടയും DM. (in Durga's hand). പാനമത്തന്‍ S. intoxicated, so: പാനശീലന്‍, പാനസക്തന്‍ = കുടിയന്‍. പാനീയം S. water പാ. മാത്രം ഉപജീവിക്കും Sk.

pīlu S. 1. Careya arborea (ഉങ്ക). 2. Ar. (fil, P. pīl) an elephant.

pāri S. (പാരം). 1. Water. 2. a milk-pot. In T. fine cloth, hence ചെന്പാരിപ്പടം. പാരിക്ക see പാരം I. & II.

pāńǰi & പാഞ്ചന്‍ A gold coin worth 5 Rupees, or 1/3 Mohar.

pāḍam (S. & T. in Uriya. an open level tract). 1. Range, esp. of riccfields പുഞ്ചപ്പാ.
