paṭṭaḍa (T. C. an anvil, fr. പടുക) Funeral pile = ചിത, as പ. കൂട്ടുക; also = ചുടലക്കാടു.

paṭṭiγa 5. S. ( = പത്രിക, fr. പട്ടം); 1. A band, ligature. സൂത്രപ. a metal clasp; esp. a lath, shingle (of wood, വാരി of bamboo); പ. തറെക്ക. 2. a list മുതല്‍വിവരം പട്ടിക MR.; ജമാപന്തിപ്പ. TR. any catalogue, indenture, voucher, etc. കാര്യസ്ഥന്മാരുടെ മാസപ്പടിപ്പ., സാദില്‍വാരപ്പ. etc. നാട്ടുപ. a map. പട്ടികയാണി a nail for laths. പട്ടികയോടു flat tiles.

piṇḍ/?/am S. (fr. piṇḍu Te. C. to squeeze = പിഴി, see പിണു & പിണം). 1. A lump, ball; the head of an elephant V1. 2. a rice-ball, handful of food (ഉരുള), മന്ത്രപി. a charmed morsel. 3. a rice-ball offered to the dead, esp. by Brahmans പി. വെക്ക, ഇടുക, ഊട്ടുക oblation to the manes (10th day). പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ദിനത്തില്‍ പി'വും കഴിച്ചു ശ്രാദ്ധവും KR. തി രുനെല്ലിപ്പി. മറിച്ചേക്ക TP. രാജാവിന്‍റെ പി. കഴിഞ്ഞു, എഴുന്നെള്ളിയേടത്തേ തിരുനാള്‍ പി. കഴിപ്പാന്‍ തോക്കും മരുന്നും അയച്ചു TR. (പ ള്ളിപ്പി. for Rājas). പിണ്ടത്തിന്നു കൊടുത്തു (extorted money, etc.) 'be it for his funeral' vu. പിണ്ഡക്കാരന്‍ (1) a stout man. പിണ്ഡദാനം S. parušam S. (പരുസ്സ് a knot). Knotty; rough, rugged, esp. harsh words പോരും പ. പറഞ്ഞതു Bhr., പോരും ഇനി പ' ങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞ തു Mud.; also of tragic speeches, that leave a deep impression.

pūval 1. (VN. of പൂക്ക). Flourishing or T. M. red colour (=പൂവത്തു) in പൂവലംഗം, SiPu. പൂവല്‍മേനി, പൂവല്‍മൈ CG. a fine body. 2. B. a fruit with the flower attached, empty pod. 3. dampness, moisture (=പുകില്‍). മഴ പെയ്തു പൂല്‍ അടങ്ങിയിട്ടില്ല No. = നനവു മു ന്പേയുള്ള നനവോടെത്തിയില്ല the rain has not penetrated the soil. പൂല്‍ ഉള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു കുമിള്‍; വിത്തു ഇരുപൂലില്‍ ആയ്പോയി No. has sprouted only partly (the field must be resown). met. ഇന്നിന്നവനു നല്ല പൂല്‍ അല്ലേ = No. he thrives. 4. a crop എത്ര പൂവ്വലുള്ള നിലം, ഇരു പൂവ്വലുള്ളതു Arb.
