paṭṭil So. A bamboo, a place where bamboos grow ഇല്ലിപ്പട്ടില്‍ V2. (പട്ടല്‍ = പടല്‍ V1.) പട്ടിലന്‍ B. a barber of a low class.

pēšas S. (പിശ്) Shape. — പേശസ്കാരി a former, embroiderer പേ. യേ ഓര്‍ത്ത കീട ങ്ങള്‍ എന്ന പോലേ Bhg 10. പേശി S. Lump of flesh, foetus മാംസപേ ശി Bhr. പേശുക, see പേചുക.

pāyasam S. (പയസ്സ്). 1. Rice boiled in milk = പാല്‍ച്ചോറു, ഹേമപാത്രസ്ഥമായ പായസം AR.; a meal in a temple പാല്‍പാ. ചരക്കില്‍ വെച്ചു vu. പായതച്ചോററിന്നിരിക്ക TP. 2. a vow ആഴിവര്‍ണ്ണനു പായസ്സം പതി നാറു കഴിപ്പന്‍ SG. (gen. പണപ്പായസം).

Malayāḷam പ'മാകിയ ഭൂമി SiPu., പരശുരാമഭൂമി KU., — സൃഷ്ടി etc. പരശുരാമപ്പൂച്ചി (loc.) a mantis, supposed to be praying for rain.

piṇam T. M. (Tu. puṇa, C. heṇa, Te. pīrugu fr. പിണു stiff). A corpse, dead body

pōkkaḍam No. l. (പോക്കു l) & pl. പോ'ങ്ങള്‍ Palg. What falls off, as chips = ത ളളുമരം etc. met. അവന്നു വലിയ പോ. വന്നു he has suffered loss & is hard up. 2. (പോ ക്കു 3) shift, means ഇനിക്കു പോക്കടം ഇല്ല No. = പോക്കിടം, കഴിവു, കൊണ്ടു പോക്കു.

pāri S. (പാരം). 1. Water. 2. a milk-pot. In T. fine cloth, hence ചെന്പാരിപ്പടം. പാരിക്ക see പാരം I. & II.

payimba No. (So. T. പൈ, Tu. pasambe, C. pasube) A bag, sack പണ്ടാരം ഇട്ട പ. ക്കെട്ടം ഉറങ്ങാതേ കാത്തു കൊള്‍വിന്‍ Pay.; പയി ന്പെരെ മേലും ചോര കണ്ടു (jud. Mpl.). ഈ പ. യുടെ ഭാഗ്യം (womb) says an unhappy mother.

paṇayam T. M. (പണ്യം or പണം 4.) 1. A bet, stake ചൂതില്‍ ഓരോ പ'ങ്ങള്‍ പ റഞ്ഞു Nal.; എന്തൊന്നു വെക്കുന്നിതു പ. DN. അവളെ പ. പറക, ചൂതിന്ന് ഒക്കവേ പ'ത്തി ലായി നമ്മുടെ രാജ്യം Nal. കലഹിച്ചു പ. പറ ഞ്ഞു KR. two birds trying who may be quickest (also ജയം പറക, വാതു etc.) ചൂതു പൊരു താന്‍ അസംഖ്യം പ'മായി Bhg. 2. a pledge, pawn കൊത്തുന്ന കത്തി പ'മാക്കൊല്ല prov.; പ. കണ്ടേ കൊടുക്കാവു KU.; കുഴല്‍ ൪ പണ ത്തിന്നു പ. വെച്ചു, തറവാട് എനക്കു പ. വെച്ചു TR. പ. നിറുത്തുക to seize a pledge for reprisal. പ. എടുക്ക V1. to redeem it. Kinds: വല്‍ പ. double the value of the money borrowed KU., തൊടു പ. (& ചൂണ്ടിപ്പ.) mortgage of grounds without handing them over, ചുരിപ., ജന്മപ. etc.

param S. (പര്‍ to lead beyond). 1. Farther, distant. 2. subsequent അതില്‍ പ. after that, പരം അറിഞ്ഞു KR. then, എണ്ണായിരത്തില്‍ പ. തൊള്ളായിരത്തെണ്പത്തുനാലു Bhr. 3. better മാനസജയത്തില്‍നിന്നു പ. ഒന്നും ഇല്ല Bhg. അധര്‍മ്മത്തിനേക്കാള്‍ പ. ജീവനാശം Si Pu. preferable, എന്നില്‍ പ. ഒരുത്തരും ഇല്ല I am the man. പണ്ടിതില്‍ പ. ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ടു പലര്‍ Bhr. many have suffered more. — holding for the best. ദോഷപരന്‍ devoted to sin. സത്യപ രന്‍ Bhr.; ഏകനാരീപരന്മര്‍ rivals. 4. different. പരന്മാര്‍ strangers, foes. 5. Tdbh. = ഭരം (പരേല്പിക്ക). 6. T. aM. (S. ഫരം) a shield, ഒ ളികള്‍ തോല്‍പ്പരവും ഏന്തി RC. (പരക്ക.) പരകാ൪യ്യം (4) another's business.
