ānyam T. M. (Tdbh. ആഹ്നികം) A day's work, day's hire or wages ഇനിയത്തേ ആനിയം തരിക (vu.) ആന്യ ഊട്ടു daily meals given to Brahmans at the Mal. temples.

uṇṇuγa T. M. C. Tu. (ഉള്‍) 1. To eat പാല്‍, മുല ഉണ്ണുക CG. to suck. ആയത്ത ഭോഗം ഉണ്‍കില്‍ KeiN. enjoy. 2. chiefly to eat rice, ഉണ്ട ഉണ്ണി ഓടിക്കളിക്കും prov. ഉണ്ട വീ ട്ടില്‍ etc. (see കണ്ടുകെട്ടുക). ഉണ്ടചോറ്റില്‍ ക ല്ലിടരുതു do not render evil for good, അവ ന്‍റെ ചോറുണ്ടുപോയി I am once indebted to him. കഞ്ഞിവാര്‍ത്തുണ്ണുന്നതു prov. to make a meal on Canji. 100 പേര്‍ക്കുമ്മാനായി Mud. VN. ഊണ്‍, ഊട്ടു (old ഉണ്‍ in ഉണ്‍മുതിരുക Pay.) eating, meal. CV. ഉണ്ണിക്ക, ഊട്ടുക. ഉണ്ടറുതി 'end of enjoyment' deed of acquittance. ഉണ്ടറുതി ആധാരം MR. a mortgage, in which the mortgagee occupies the estate at a fixed rent, out of which be pays the amount of the interest on his loan, & such proportion of the principal, as shall liquidate it in a specified number of years W. ഉണ്ടറുതിപാട്ടം or കാണം a lease of grounds, paying the rent for all the years agreed to in advance. ഉണ്ടറുതിപണയം deed assigning a property for a certain time, to enable the lender of money to pay himself the principal & interest from the usufruct.

ūṭṭụ T. M. C. (ഊണ്‍) 1. Giving rice, esp. to Brahmans ഊ. കേട്ട പട്ടര്‍ prov. ഊട്ടിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട കൂട്ടം SiPu. ഊട്ടു ശ്രമിച്ചു കഴിക്ക Mud. a high officer's duty. ഇല്ലങ്ങള്‍ തോറും നടന്ന് ഊട്ടിലും ഉണ്ടു വസിക്ക Bhr. live on charity. 2. welding iron, degree of ignition required for steel; metaph. അവന്‍ നല്ല ഊ ട്ടില്‍ തീര്‍ന്നു born most auspiciously. ഊട്ടുകാര്‍ cooks. ഊട്ടുപുര place where Brahmans are fed for 3 days etc. പട്ടന്മാര്‍ ഊ. നോക്കി കയറും TP. ഊട്ടുബ്രഹ്മസ്വം fund set apart for that charity. ഊട്ടുക, ട്ടി T. M. 1. to feed, feast Gods & Brahmans; with Dat. ഏറിയൊരാള്‍ക്കും ഊട്ടി TP. 2. to temper iron V1. = മുക്കുക; 3. No. to steel tools ആയുധങ്ങളെ ഊട്ടുവിന്‍ ChVr. for war. CV. ഊട്ടിക്കുന്നവന്‍ the feast giver; ഊട്ടിപ്പാന്‍ വരിക feast at first menstruation. VN. ഊണ് ‍(ഉണ്ണുക) food, boiled rice, meal. ഊണും ഉറക്കും ഒഴിക്ക to leave off; met. വാള്‍ക്കൂണാക്കുക Bhr. (= ഇര). കൂടിയൂണ്‍ a feast of Brahmans when closing investigation into a breach of caste ദോ ഷം ഒഴിച്ചുകൊള്‍വാന്‍ കൂ. KN. ചോറൂണടിയന്തരം first meal of an infant (jud.) ഊണ്കാരന്‍, ഊണി great eater, ഊണികള്‍ക്കു രണം എന്നു കേട്ടാല്‍ Bhr.

kuma 1. T. M. (C. ഗു —) Bruising, beating കുമകൊള്‍ക to get stripes. കുമ ഊട്ടീടുന്നു ചില രെ നീ CG. flog some. കുമപ്പാവ SiPu. = യന്ത്ര പ്പാവ playing-puppets? 2. So. (T. കുവൈ, കുപ്പ) heaping up. കുമെക്ക 1. v. a. to beat, bruise, ദണ്ഡുകൊണ്ടു കുമെച്ചു RS. ഓരോ ജനങ്ങള്‍ അവരെ കു മെക്കയും Mud. അന്നീരില്‍ ചാരിച്ചു കു. MM. 2. to heap up.

Tu. തൊയി & തോ moist) To dip, soak, unite. മഞ്ഞള്‍നിറം തോഞ്ഞ കൂറ, ശോ ണിതം തോഞ്ഞ ബാണങ്ങള്‍, ഗണ്ഡത്തില്‍ തോ യുന്ന വന്മദതോയം. met. ശീതം തോഞ്ഞീടുന്നാ തങ്കം CG. സമ്മതം തോയുന്ന നന്മൊഴി Anj. (= ഉള്ള). തോയ്ക്ക T. M. So. (T. തോയ്ക്ക to dip in, bring together, etc) 1. to temper iron = ഊട്ടുക. 2. niččalam Tdbh.; നിശ്ചലം, Certainly. നിച്ചല്‍, (നിച്ചം & നിച്ചലം) 1. always കടുവാ മലന്പുലി നിച്ചലും കൂടും മട, നിച്ചലും നിച്ച ലും പോ നീ കുമാര Anj. regularly. നിച്ചേല്‍ നിസ്കാരം ചോനകര്‍ക്കു TP. daily, continually. നിച്ചേലും നിന്നു പടകളിക്കും CG. (നിച്ചലും No. = എപ്പോഴും; V1. 2. നിത്തലും q.v.). 2. certainly. നിച്ചാലും ഉപായം ഇല്ല എന്നു വരാ Bhr. absolutely no remedy. നിച്ചാത്തം V1., Tdbh.; നിത്യശ്രാദ്ധം, daily, monthly, or annual repetition of funeral ceremonies, നി. ഊട്ടുക, കഴിക്ക.

paṭṭaǹ Tdbh., ഭട്ടന്‍, A class of foreign Brahmans, often traders, of old used as inviolable messengers, spies, etc. with പശ്ചിമശിഖ, hence less respected & object of many proverbs, f.i. ഊട്ടു കേട്ട പട്ടര്‍, പട്ടര്‍ തൊട്ട പെണ്ണു etc.; ഒരു കള്ളപ്പട്ടരെ അയച്ചു TR. a spy of Brahman. ഒരു പട്ടരശ്ശന്‍ (hon.) jud.; pl. പട്ടന്മാര്‍. Kinds: കടുപ്പട്ടര്‍ (lowered for eating the fish കടു?) a Sūdra-like class, living by science, & as carriers, embalers, etc. — കുട്ടിപ്പട്ടര്‍ Brahmans attending on Rājas. — ചോഴിയപ്പ. or ആര്യപ്പ. (with forelock) ranking with Kšatriyas, also മുക്കാണിയര്‍. — നാട്ടു പ. children of a foreign Br. from a Nambūri wife. Anach. ദേശികര്‍, വടമര്‍. പട്ടച്ചോമാതിരി see under പട്ടം. പട്ടത്തിരി (& ഭ.) the highest class of Nambūis, very learned, അന്തര്‍ജ്ജനത്തെ വിധിച്ചു പുറ ത്താക്കിയപ. piṇḍ/?/am S. (fr. piṇḍu Te. C. to squeeze = പിഴി, see പിണു & പിണം). 1. A lump, ball; the head of an elephant V1. 2. a rice-ball, handful of food (ഉരുള), മന്ത്രപി. a charmed morsel. 3. a rice-ball offered to the dead, esp. by Brahmans പി. വെക്ക, ഇടുക, ഊട്ടുക oblation to the manes (10th day). പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ദിനത്തില്‍ പി'വും കഴിച്ചു ശ്രാദ്ധവും KR. തി രുനെല്ലിപ്പി. മറിച്ചേക്ക TP. രാജാവിന്‍റെ പി. കഴിഞ്ഞു, എഴുന്നെള്ളിയേടത്തേ തിരുനാള്‍ പി. കഴിപ്പാന്‍ തോക്കും മരുന്നും അയച്ചു TR. (പ ള്ളിപ്പി. for Rājas). പിണ്ടത്തിന്നു കൊടുത്തു (extorted money, etc.) 'be it for his funeral' vu. പിണ്ഡക്കാരന്‍ (1) a stout man. പിണ്ഡദാനം S. (വള്‍). 1. = വട്ടം Round in തല വണ്ടി രുപ്പിക q. v. 2. a wheel, the nave of a wheel ഓടുന്ന രഥത്തിന്‍റെ വ., തേര്‍വ. ഘോഷ വും Nal. 3. a cart, bandy രാക്ഷസര്‍ വ. തള്ളി നടത്തുന്നവര്‍ Bhg 11. — Kinds: പെട്ടിവ. a coach, കോലാര്‍വ. a common cart 319, മുക്കാല്‍ വ. id. the wheels' diameter being smaller, മു ട്ടിവ., കാല്‍വ.
