bhāṭṭam S. (ഭട്ട). A division of the old Kēraḷa Brahmans (2 others are പ്രഭാകരം & വ്യാകരണം) derived from one ഭാട്ടപ്രഭാകര വ്യാകരണന്‍, whose shoe (മെതിയടി) is said to be preserved in തൃക്കണ്ണാപുരം, തൃക്കല്‍പുറം KU. (others = പാട്ടം usufruction). ഭാട്ടന്‍ S. a follower of ഭട്ടന്‍. ഭാഡ (loc.) = ബാഡ.

bhāvam S. (ഭൂ, ഭവ ). 1. Coming into existence രണ്ടാം ഭാവേ, മൂന്നാം ഭാ. SiPu. = ജന്മം.

bhāṇ/?/am S. (see പണ്ടം). l. A vessel, pot. 2. a bundle, load, package ആരും സ മ്മതിയാതുള്ള ഭാ'ങ്ങള്‍ TR. burthens. ഇവ എല്ലാം ഭാ'മായി കെട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു Mud. വസ്ത്രഭാ. പേറി PT. (an ass). ഭാണ്ഡത്തപ്പാല്‍ parcel post (Banghy). ക്ഷുരഭാ. ഇങ്ങു തരിക PT. barber's bag. ഭാ. കെട്ടിയിടുക to load cattle (= മാറാപ്പു). ഭാണ്ഡാഗാരം S. = ഭണ്ഡാരം q.v. ഭാതൃ = ബഹാദര്‍ 748., as കുന്പഞ്ഞിഭാതൃക്കു TR. ഭാദര്‍ id. f. i. ഭാ. മുട്ടാളന്‍ a great clod-poll. ഭാദ്രപദം S. (ഭദ്രപദ). A month = കന്നി.

bhaǰanam S. (ഭജ് to divide, share, be occupied with). Worship, service കര്‍മ്മങ്ങളും ഭ'വും തുടങ്ങി സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചാല്‍ TR. — ഭജനപ്പുര a private residence in a temple B. ഭജനീയന്‍ adorable ഭ'നെ ഭജിക്ക Bhr. denV. ഭജിക്ക 1. to worship by vows, meditation, staying in temples, visiting holy places ഭക്ത്യാ ഭ. Si Pu.; കായേന വാചാ മ നസാ ഭ. നീ AR.; ലോകത്തില്‍ നിന്നെ ആ ര്‍ഭ'ക്കും Arb.; ഭജേ Sah. I adore thee. 2. to love & serve (as a wife her husband). 3. to assume as one's portion ധൈര്യം ഭ ജിച്ചാലും; സ്ത്രീത്വംഭജിച്ചവന്‍ SiPu. changed into a woman. — (part. pass. ഭക്തം). ഭജാര്‍ MR. = ബജാര്‍ Bazar.

bhaumam S. (ഭൂമി). Terrestrial ഭൌ. എ ന്നിരിക്കിലും VCh. — also ഭൌമ്യകൂലി Nasr. earthly reward.

bhūrǰam & bhūrǰapatram S. A birch-tree, the bark of which was used for writing, & for winding round the Hooka-snake (vu. ഭുജപത്രം).

bhiṇṇaǹ (aC. biṇ stout, Tu. buṇa pole). Stout, heavy അന്പങ്ങു ഭിണ്ണനും കൊ ണ്ടൊരുനേരം RS. the blockhead (Rāvaṇa). ഭിണ്ണാകാരം gross (fr. പിണ്ഡം).

bhaktam S. (part. pass, of ഭജ്). Apportioned; a meal = ചോറു. ഭക്തന്‍ attached, devoted, in Cpds. as ശിവഭ. or നീലകണ്ഠന്‍റെ ഭ. Si Pu. his devout worshipper. തന്നുടെ ഭ. Bhr. ദേവിയുടെ ഭ. Anach. നല്ല ഭക്തന്മാര്‍ Si Pu. ഭക്തപരായണന്‍, — വത്സലന്‍ S. kind to his faithful (God AR. Bhr.) ഭക്തവാത്സല്യം ഭക്തന്മാര്‍ക്കു കണ്ടറിവാനായി AR. (God's) affection to the pious. ഭക്തി S. devotedness, piety എങ്കലേ ഭ. Bhg. ഭ. മാത്രം ദരിദ്രന്നു മഹാഫലം Si Pu. ഭ. യാ ലേ മുക്തി prov. രാമഭ. മുക്തിയെ സിദ്ധി പ്പിക്കും AR. — ഭക്ത്യാ Instr. ഭക്തിപൂര്‍വ്വം by means of faith (opp. കര്‍മ്മം, ജ്ഞാനം) — ഭ'കം Bhg. id.

bhiṇ/?/ibālam S. (&ഭിന്ദി —). A short arrow shot thro' a tube= പിന്നെററു തടി RC; ഭി'ങ്ങള്‍ ഈട്ടികള്‍ SitVij. മുല്ഗരഭി' ലതോമരപാശങ്ങളും DM. etc.

bhrāndaǹ S. (part. of ഭ്രമ്). 1. Roaming, confused. 2. mad; also N. pr. a Paradēvata ഭ്രാന്തജളബധിരാന്ധമൂകൈസ്സമം സഞ്ച രിച്ചു Bhg. walking with the mad, silly, blind, etc., the highest സന്ന്യാസം. ഭ്രാന്തി 1. S. whirling, error, madness കാമ ഭ്രാ. etc. ജലസ്ഥലഭ്രാ. Bhg. fancying there is water where none is to be found. 2. M. (loc.) a mad woman ഭ്രാന്തികള്‍ B. ഭ്രാന്തി ച്ചി (better ഭ്രാന്ത, ഭ്രാന്തമാര്‍). ഭ്രാന്തു Tdbh. delirium; madness. തന്നേത്താന്‍ മറക്കയും പിരാന്തു പറകയും MM. delirious, ഭ്രാ. പറയുന്നതു തീരും Tantr. ഭ്രാ. പിടിക്ക to go mad. ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടിവര്‍ക്ക് എന്നു ചൊല്ലുവോര്‍ CG. പുത്രഭര്‍ത്താവെന്നുള്ളൊരു ഭ്രാന്തുകള്‍ KR. absurd notions. — Hence ഭ്രാന്താളി, ഭ്രാന്താ ളിത്വം (loc.) madness.
